BK, I see your sweet project created a poop storm over at the H--B. Too many critics with too much spare time, I'd say. Some of them are hot rod restorer types that can't appreciate your artistry & creativity. Gee, was that a rant?
Anyway, keep up the great work. When do you expect to have it on the road?

I really love what you have got going on your build.Let me know if you need any advice on building your rocker system, I am no pro but I learned a few things building mine. Your truck is one of the better builds I have looked at.

Thanks man! I did have a couple of questions for ya if ya don't mind....What are you doing for your center support bearing? How did ya come about the distance from the center support to the pushrod center mount, and what kind of ratio did ya make the pushrod to bag movement? Thanks in advance!!!

I used a bushing that the truck guys use, its made of .188 thick steel DOM pipe with a massive composite center (WAY STRONG). There is a place here in CA that sells them, I think they were around 30.00 for 2. I first got the bags, they have a fully extended lenght and a collapsed lenght. Now with that you can figure your travel or for a better word your bag movement. Figure out how much room you have and find center of that, remember your bags have a fully collapsed lenght that cant change use that when making the mounting point ( you dont have to run the bag fully exstened you can use your cam ratio for that) Try to keep the bags at a 45 degrees or better, if you lay them horizonal they will start to sag in the middle. Mount the cam so it wont hit the bag or mounting support, you can get pretty creative here so what ever you think will look good will probably work. Now for your cam ratio. Figure how much travel you want your truck to move. Lets say 6 inches...Lets say your bag can only move 4 inches that means your cam has to have a ratio to make up the other 2 inches to get you 6 inches you wanted. To find that, take a diameter measurment times pie (3.14) and divide it by 4. You will get your ratio movement you need ( YOUr CAM SHOULD NOT HAVE MORE THAN A 1/4 CIRCLE TRAVEL) EXAMPLE--look at the clock 12 to 3----3 to 6---- 6 to 9--- you get the picture. Once you have got that make your rods and mounting brackects and there you go. Its not that hard, if you gave me your travel I could figure your ratio out for you or walk you through that part. If you post a pic of what your trying to do I would have a better idea of how to mount the center. I hope this helps.

WOW! I would say you have definitely been studying this. Instead of cluttering up your awesome thread with this great info, I'm going to start a new thread in the suspension section. Thanks for your help, and hope to see ya over in the new thread....keep up the awsome work!!!!

I did some work on my bed this weekend. I tried to to keep all my radius lines in check. I made the bed rails tilt inwards toward the frame, not sure if I like it. Looking for some opinions.......................

looks good, maybe some screen mesh on the sides instead, or some inlaid on the floor to show off the frame work?? but that looks really good as is
 
very nice work BK, been watching this thread and like the rest of the folks in here all I can say is WOW! you have made a very nice hotrod there you fab skills are killer and your ideas are waaaay out of the box keep up the good work ..Chip
 
Nice Build looked on the H##& every one to there own. Perhaps you should go and work in Detroit maybe the car industry wouldn't be on its knees if they had some fresh ideas
 
Bed

Thanks everyone, I am sure glad you think it fits well. I did look at it today and just like a couple post suggested I needed to put somthing more to it instead of leaving sheet metal plain. What I came up with is using the steel runners that hold down the wood in a fatory bed. I plan to space them about 5 to 6 inches apart and welding them to the bottom sheet metal giving it some factory style. I really do want to thank you guys for suggesting I take a better look.....I feel that it would be perfect for getting away from a plain bed......[;)
 
Motor

I finished the motor this weekend. I also painted the motor and trand, looks ok ( I have only painted one other time) I ended up with 10.5 to 1 running a THUMPER CAM with a gear drive, should sound pretty good.:D

damn nice build...you said you were running poncho power right? i believe you said 389? i dont wanna run back through the 20 pages to find out exactly. none the less love it. plan to run an extra pontiac 350 ive had strapped to a turbo and th400 on my buils

Worked on the bed today,almost finished. welded the sides and center in gives it a nice finished look. Still thinking of running somthing in the middle just no sure what yet.........................[S

WORK of ART

This is one of my favorite threads,...your metal skills are unfreaking believable. Your frame design,.. and the bed, the bed lines (curve) makes the look!
