The life of a body man for sure.
I've got a young man working for me that's has a paint and body background. I never new how many times a vehicle has to be assembled and taken apart when doing a project that gets a paint job.

You won’t get an argument from me , OI.
That’s one if the reasons I sold the custom truck. Didn’t have it in me to do the final body work and paint.$$$$
Not there yet with this one. Taking off the front clip to work on the suspension legit.
Dropped spindles and new springs on their way.
Lowering blocks already here.
Tires will have to wait.$$$$$
My plan, Such as it is. Remainder of June and July is suspension and floor work.
Final body work started there after with hopes of having it paint ready by September.
We will see.....

First glance, that A/C compressor looked like a blower sitting up there!:D

I’m going to junk the 4.3, Bama.
More acorns in that left open dist hole then you can count.
Expect to see more “ surgery” before it’s all over.
I don’t have time to be polite to this engine.

Started taking apart the DS.
Spring is still in there. That's for tomorrow, maybe.:)

if you arent replacing balljoints, you can replace the spindle without taking the spring out, and i would actually recommend that because stock s10 springs are impossible to put back in, no room for a compressor.

I am going with a 1” drop spring as well, Joedoh.
As I love to learn new things I would dig reading how you do that .
Stuff is crammed in there for sure.I do have new ball joints Incase I destroy the old ones removing the spindle. This stuff is definitely on there.
As I have said, I’m used to old suspensions and other then working on the daily driver this is all new stuff to me.
The fact that it’s 99 Tells you how far behind the times I am.🙀

It's pretty easy, put a floor jack under the control arm and compress the spring with it. Break the ball joints with a pickle fork (ball joint separator), lower the jack slightly if needed, remove and replace spindle.

I've found the easiest way to remove a spring on an S10 is to do this, then just drop the jack to release spring tension. I've never had the need to use a spring compressor on them.

Still waiting on suspension parts......
Did a white wall width mock up.
First 3 pics are 3" wide.
Next 4 pics are 4" wide.
There are some choices in between depending on my final tire size.
At this point I can narrow it down to nothing thinner then 3" and nothing wider then 4".:eek: [cl :p :cool:

I like the 3" wide.

I think 3 is a bit too narrow.
here is a couple of pics that were posted on another site I frequent in reply to my tire post.
The maroon car is a 50 Plymouth. Sort of the same but not really.
The tires on this are Firestone 670x15's. He said it was a 3 inch white wall but my info shows a 3-1/4" white wall for this tire. I already had these on my list as a possibility.
These tires are also 28.50" tall as compared to my 29" mock up tire.
The next pic with the lady on the fender is a 49 Coronet.... Bingo.:D
He also says this is a 3 inch wide whitewall. Info on brand and size is forthcoming.
If you look close you will see he has the wheel painted white as well, which adds to the width of the white wall visually.
I tend to favor wider whites. I'm eyeballing some that have a 3-3/4 inch white wall.

I've got to vote against you this time Torchie. I like white walls, but there has to be some contrasting colours, like body colour on the wheels and some black on the tire. So my vote is for the 3" WWW, and don't paint the wheels white.
Carry on tinkering.
