I totally agree Bob. i like the idea of hardwood, copper tubing, brass fittings, rivets, sprockets and gears, bells and whistles for that paralell Victorian industrial age theme merging with rat rods. Fascinating possabilities.

I love that stuff. It reminds me of some of my projects. A little different style but similar. (I'll post up on the metal thread)

What do you suppose is the attraction? Just like when you pop the hood on a new car, and it is all covered up, do you suppose we like the simple mechanics of days gone by?

People like to see how things work. Ever stop and watch an episode of "How It's Made"?

Anyone ever seen the movies Brazil, Dark City, City of Lost Children, or even 12 Monkeys? They all have that bizarre type antique futuristic type mechanical stuff at some point - always fascinated me. Guess it's called retrofuturism.

The House on the Rock is the first place I ran into this kind of stuff when I was like 14 - blew my mind then.

The beauty and elegance of the design built with pride. Where is that today?

Did it all start with Jules Verne and 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea?
