With a heavy heart I'm forced to retire my faithful daily driver. After hitting 373,000 miles on the original everything, the oldster is starting to cost me too much money to keep on the road. Plus I'm worried that it will leave me on the side of the road and I won't be able to work. My job is contingent on this truck. Front suspension is getting worn out and there's a bad vibration that I just can't pinpoint. Leaks oil and trans fluid now, but surprizingly it still DOESN'T burn oil. Simply amazing to me! It has developed a death rattle when it starts up everytime. A warning for sure. Bought it new in 94 and it's been the best vehicle I have ever owned. Hope the one I bought is half as good as this one. I know WB, I talk to it like it was a person.:D But it is easier to have conversations with the truck than it is with my wife. The truck has never called me dumb yet!

When you've owned them that long, they're like a member of the family.
One thing about it is, it doesn't owe ya anything with 373,000 miles on it [cl

Its a Chevy Silverado extended cab and the funny thing is the truck is still looking good exterior wise. No peeling paint or dents.still very shiny...plus I have to admit that I have been very lax about washing it! and you're right old iron, it doesn't owe me a thing. Replacing it with a dodge Dakota....the money I save on gas every week will make the payment...I average from 150-300 miles daily...and old faithful isn't and never was good on gas.:D

I still have dreams about my high school car, dream that I find it or that I just forgot it was out there and I get it running again. Yes we do get attached to some of them. I think 120,000 is the most I ever put on a single vehicle and I would still be driving it if I hadn't moved from Alaska and left it there. Nowdays I don't get attached, buy 'em cheap and drive for a couple years, then sell while they are still roadworthy. I doubt if I have 370,000 miles left in me.

I had to retire my first generation cummins truck after 500k. It was a sad day but it became a part of history when it was retired. (the drivetrain was put in Hitlers mercedes). It made it a little easier to part with when I knew its future. My current cummins truck is approaching 400k and is still going strong tho.

When you spend that much time in one you become attached to them.

A lot of miles for a gas engine. Obviously you are consistent with the oil changes bud. Well done.

Cruise auction park had bought three of hitlers Mercedes to restore and auction off as a set. The drive train out of my truck went in his parade car.

If you google it a bunch of info is available about it.
