Gret looking find, Don. No matter how you build this one, I'm sure it'll be another sharp ride.

Very nice, a wise old hotrodder told me years ago..."Always start with the best car you can find and afford, it will be cheaper in the long run"...so it looks like your off to a great start.

Thanks all. One thing I am not going to do is make the mistake of starting another project until one is done. I swear, I won't do it. I swear.......well maybe if I just start removing some of the old weather stripping and................no, I am going to resist the temptation!:p:D

I did have another thought today on the drivetrain. One of my two daily drivers is an 84 Crown Vic Ford with a 302 and AOD. It only has roughly 70,000 miles on it and has been flawless, but it is getting old. I have been considering getting rid of it and my Honda and getting one slightly newer car (I really don't care for new cars at all) so maybe by the time I am ready to start the 46 I will strip all the running gear out of the Crown Vic and transplant it into the 46.

I would rebuild the engine, add some early heads I have laying around, a cam, some pistons, an intake and carb, and some blockhugger headers. I could leave the air conditioning on it and add some creature comforts like stereo and cruise control. It would be a reliable driver and even though I am not crazy about AOD transmissions it would give good milage even with some deeper gears in the back.

The more I think about the idea the more I like it.........Ford in a Ford! :D

sounds like a plan coming together....[cl just go ahead and "start" on it--you'll still have time to finish the other one later;)
