Had a guy come up to the house to look at the rusty T in my garage- You can't see the T from the road, but people know its there -I've had this happen quite a few times. I'm pretty sure its from the net--we CAN be found..

He had some rat pics to show me, and one was 'Frankenstein Welding' Just stitch it together kinda thing. I was building a tranny hump this afternoon and was uninspired so reworked some taged together welds on my chop of the 33 Dodge PU. Heres a couple pix of the idea.

I think it could stir people up! :) Kinda artsy/funky/ugly/ratty. Its suppozed to be like the stitches on Franks neck and hands.

Do the whole cab this way or grindem smooth and quit goofin off?? (I goof off alot)

PA, that doesnt look to bad, would bring up conversations for sure.

There was a truck at the Imboden car show that was stitched at the back of the cab. The guy actually drilled small holes into the cab, and took some solid wire and actually laced up the holes. Looked really good, and looked like it was really holding the cab together.

Um Preacher, you've seen how big i am, not sure id be comfy in that thing. Thing was barely a 2 seater.

Hey can i borrow 7500, it may take me the rest of my life to pay it back, but ill pay ya back. :D

Thanks for the input guys. Arkie-Gregster, I'd like to see the wire lacing idea-You have any pics or directions to one?

'Why' is a good question, B.E.D.-- Preacher has seen it, and he's right about the 'different' thing. I've spent hundreds of hours (maybe thousands) trying to make cars 'nice'. I didn't get much out of it,(wasn't all that good at it) and it started turning sour-started gettin stressful. You know--those scouling guys ya see at the shows-worried to death some kids gonn lean on his paint? I was getting there. I Want my stuff to be a little different from that. I wanna laugh in my shop (I did doing this). I don't want to burn a lotta money or time--I'm getting short of both. Also its kinda fun to poke the guys doing that stuff. This stuff doesn't have to be hard or expensive, and ya don't have to be a pro (or even very good) to do it.. :)

This old girl was melting down when I snagged it. Here's a back shot where I had to replace the rear panel. I think the stitching thing would add to it more than detract, in this case--its all blue sky-- it was done for anyway..

It's all good..

Thanks again for the input.

PA,

Not sure it's something I'd do, but it sure is different!:D I think it might be one of those things, like chopped tops and lowered suspensions, that works better in "moderation." A few done as a "detail" would be cool, but too many would be like chopping and sectioning an A-bone Tudor 24"....yeah, guys are doing it, but it looks purely "gay" to me...[S

JMO, probably not even worth $.02 CDN after the exchange rate...:D

Regards,
Shea:)

I like it all.

The lacing, stitching.

Almost everyday I get more ideas from this site

Can you use all of them?:D

Yeah--I like that wire laceing too. Like Shea said though "moderation in all things". Maybe a little dab more of the X stitch welding on the rear window, and and some copper lacing a little somewhere else.

I've found people at the carshows get a charge out of little stuff--like a booze bottle puke tank, or a small kitchen appliance part here or there. Ya have to be carefull of not overdoing it though. I have a quick release steering wheel on my T cause I'm a big ole fat guy in a little car and I need the room to get in/out. I took the steering wheel off at a show once and stuck some Vise grips on the shaft as a joke, and it caused so much trouble I had to put the wheel back on??! I got tired tellin people it was a joke--they didn't get it.

These cars are pretty wild by their nature, so I guess we don't need to push too hard.

I've seen that done around here too and it looks great. I'd choose the wire lacing over welded stitches myself. The look is totally "hand made" and adds a lot more character than welds do.
