We run international trucks and the water valves on them are terrible. We add a ball valve so the a/c cools better.

It's a popular mod for the C3 guys in warmer climates, same AC reason.

I put a ball valve in the heater hose without any other valves, on all of my big trucks and one tractor. You'd be surprized at how much hot antifreeze circulates in the heater with only one hose shut off. On a hot afternoon you want both hoses blocked.
