can anyone explain to me what the purpose / history is of the raised front ends? [S

Dutch the raised front end or altered wheel base was all done to aid in weight transfer although the "look" has been exaggerated over the years

Tire technology of the day was lousy, so they were forced to try things like gassers and A/FX in order to get better traction.

Has a fresh built 360 and a fresh built 904 tranny.
