for the Grandsons s-10 project.....picking up tomorrow....94 chevy full size pickup...2x4 with a 350 and 5spd.....runs great, drives good, has receipts for a new clutch he had installed last June, new oil pan and misc other engine fixes since the first of the year....doesn't want to drag it to KY so started at 1500......got him down to 850...plan on selling off anything I can....box is solid but cab corners are gone...maybe front fenders and hood...this and that......should work out well with a little freshing up....

thats the plan......

That's a great way to do it, and you know it runs. I bet you can sell off a lot of the body parts.

Don

But as they say...the best laid plans of mice and men soon go awry....or something like that...

Thanks Gas....I think it will be the easy way to go....

I have a gen II s-10 and everything to change it but the 4.3 won't lay down. It has 365,000 and still screams..............lol

Nice! I'm a huge fan of buying a running driving car and pulling out the powertrain. Scrap or sell the rest and you know you have everything you need to make it run.

Little stuff like battery, driveshaft, and other scavenged parts ends up saving some decent money over just buying a stripped engine/tranny.

Well brought her home this afternoon before work....

304,000 miles.on the truck.....57,000 on this engine...80+ thou on the trans....T-5.....
as clapped out at this thing looks...it runs like nutz.....has a new clutch, brand new pioneer cd player...all wired for Subs with Capacitors and all....and a neat steering wheel and tilt column that is going to make it's way into my build on the 96 GMC Thing......Drove this truck home on the expressway at 70+ without a problem.....funny as heck...got into the gas from the first light with my kid behind and it got wheel hop so bad I thought the dash was going to jump out...lol....somebody took out about 3 rear spring leaves, and looks like they heated the front springs to lower the front....and guess what....it's Forest Green...same color as the 96 build truck....who'da thunk???

think I can post these now I resized them...

hopefully.....

It was the "Crown Jewel" of the purchase....LOL

Nice score!

That steering wheel looks fast!!!

I would venture a guess that without that steering wheel place strategically on the steering column as it is.......that truck would be fast as heck right to the point it hit whatever object I couldn't steer around......LOL..

With 305,000 miles, I'm surprised the body didn't fly off at 70....lol..OH!!! I forgot to mention, it's got side pipes....kinda....there is a cobbled up exhaust that runs along each side of the cab with glass packs that have long since lost their GLASS!! I felt like a 16 year old kid tooling in that ride....if I could have put the windows down, I'd have my arm out and copping a lean..lol...
Oh...I didn't mention none of the power windows work??

That will be up to the grandson...

I prefer a donor vehicle too, lots of goodies to play with [P
Are you gonna keep it a TBI ?

If it were up to me....YES.....but he has been talking intake and carb....would be easy with all the wiring and ecm and such ready to fly.....so we shall see....maybe I should start a build threat for this one too...lol....big problem is he thinks G/Pa has a gazillion dollars.....have to bring him down to reality.....maybe a good slap to the head....LOL :D

Hey SGT that should have a NV3500 in it for a trans. it is bigger and shaped different than the T5. Of course it could have been swapped to a T5 But looking at the shifter I would bet it is still the NV3500. [P

I believe you may be right....but...

You very well could be right....Guy I got the truck from said the trans was out of an IROC Z...sort of why I figured (assumed) it was a T5....not sure but I'll get under there and take a look....got kind of busy this weekend with other things so it's just been sitting there...apparently the engine has been swapped a few times (3 or 4) and the trans was put in more recently.....I will take a look and let you know....but you may very well be correct....hence the reasoning for "should never assume" anything..lol......as much stuff that's been done to this heap....I'd not be surprised by anything...lol

My brother has one of those.
he just got a like-new 2001 with 40k original for $8,0000

His 94 like yours he bought almost new as a lease program vehicle for $14,000 and it's getting up around 140k 160k miles on it now. I think he wants 2,000 for it.
it's a 2 wheel drive 350 700r4 same color perfect interior but only has rust in the cab corners and otherwise still looks nice
You got a really good deal on that motor and tranny

yeah I think so....

it's going to be an issue as to the trans tunnel if this 5spd is a NV3500 or a T5 as it was touted....we'll see....worse case senario....we trade it or make it fit...lol...if the crap doesn't hit the fan again this weekend I have plans for the Grandson to come down for the weekend and maybe start pulling it out...we'll see what rears it's ugly head....
