looks like someone went crazy with the rattle can aluminum paint, do ur hands turn silver when u touch it? :D

You bet they do. It looks REALLY bad in person but I think half of the paint has rubbed off on my hands. It looks like that bogus chrome paint that you can buy in spray bomb cans. I am going to paint it silver though. Silver is the factory color for that engine and I like it. I already have the paint. I already ordered up some goodies too :D

great score

That is one cool engine, Gastrick. "It rubs off on your hands" turned me off to silver paint in general, and el cheapo spray bomb silver in particular. The real deal engine paint will look great in silver, of course! Isn't it great to find one of those 392's, especially with so many new parts? Hopefully you won't need to do much machine work.

I've always loved hemis, especially the early ones. I had a 241 Dodge Red Ram a long time ago...

Beats a small block chevy any day of the week, for me!

P.S. What transmission are you going to use?

P.S. What transmission are you going to use?

Well you probably won't be happy about this but I'm going to run the the TH350 that's in there now by use of an adapter. I want to get the engine in the car and running good with what I have from the trans back. Future plans call for a 4 speed though.

transmission

The plan sounds good. The $100,000 question is, can you use the same adapter with a Chevy stick bellhousing to swap in the 4-speed later? Or will you have to find an old Chrysler Hemi stick bellhousing? I don't know the answer, but it would be good to know. That way, the adapter will serve later, and save money (since those Chevy bellhousings grow on trees, lol ).

The adapters are different 440shorty but that's not a problem because my dad will be able to use the auto adapter for a project we are working on for him. That way we'll be able to pull off everything without any waste. Believe it or not, the same guy I got my engine from has another 392 that my dad is going to be picking up.

By the way, I started a build thread for this engine that I'l be updating, here................
