Just be aware of the pan depth if you use a truck ls, it's 9" deep. Camaro's and swap pans are 7"
Also install a Brian Tooley Truck Norris NSR cam.

I'm gonna have to use a GTO pan. Steering and crossmember are exactly where a normal oil pan wants to be. I think I can get a truck intake under flatt hood. Attached are pics of a LS1 and stock motor. Pay attention to the black thing on the firewall in the pics.

I got my GTO pan last night. I also got my Amazon motor mounts. ....and found a pic of mercedes with a truck motor in it with all truck accessories...ignore the funky cover. There is a truck manifold, water pump, and alternator bracket in that pic.

When you said small block at first I wasn't expecting an LS. That will make a nice reliable driver.

The original plan was to install a gen 1 SBC....I even bought a motor (307 with 305 HO heads). I have seen pictures of SBCs swapped in, but it could have not been easy. They probably had to switch to rack and pinion steering. Then I saw pics of a LS with a GTO pan and plans changed.

I'm going with a 5.3 and 4l60e. It should make for a nice car.

We normally tow our own stuff home, but didn't this time due to old tires on the trailer. So we paid somebody to deliver it. He did so right as the snow storm hit, but he couldn't make the turn into the driveway with his big ass trailer, so he dropped it in the street and we drug it through the gate with a tractor and went inside for the night.

This morning we drug it to the shop. Too cold to do anything else. It really needs a bath. ...just not today.

Did I mention rhat I bought this thing without a key? Steering wheel is locked straight forward. Not real fun riding in a car you have absolutely no control of. I had the parking brake set to hopefully it would make it drag straighter. Not sure it helped. It seemed to aim for every tree and ditch.

If nothing else, maybe you can shorten the mounting arms and tuck them in.

That is a common mod. You can drill holes and pop the struts, and then slide the bumpers in 2 inches. You are still left with the big ugly rubber pieces. I am hoping something like late corvair bumpers or maybe 65 mustang bumpers will fit.

AMG wheels bolted on. They fit!

The paint is old and tired. It has solvent pop pits like it might have been replayed.....call it patina and live with it?

By all means out with the dodge'em car bumpers and in with 2x4s if you have too. :D. How does it look with no bumpers at all?
