i totally agree, there are more "regular" people out there then hot rodders. We live in a majority rules society, i do my best to stay safe and not act like a total idiot, and keep my ride legal. I always push it on my friends too if i can.

I just know I'm gonna catch hell for this one. However I just have to say it. I am all for the kind of machines we love to build. I'm building one myself and as I'm building I am also praying and hoping that some over zellous pollition doesn't take it apon him or herself to write laws to keep my machines off the road. That being said I saw the picks of your grill....... yeah it's cool and all, but it made me shudder to think what it could do to a person in the event of a crash. Then I read....... these are pics before the crash. I hope I'm not alone here people. Hood ornaments where band for the vary reason I'm talking about here. We need to be responsable builders here, because the fact is there are people who want us off the road, and I have to admit...... the second I saw the grill I wanted it off the road. So please guys be creative but lets keep a mind to what might scare the hell out of someone who can take it all away from us.
Happy "RATRODDIN" guys.

Rodguy, I can see where you are coming from on that "scared of the grill thing". Maybe you are right. Yep, I am sure of it. It is not the fact that it is no worse than anything else on the road, it is the fact that it looks worse.
But in my opinion, that is part of the deal. A corvette looks fast, heck the speed limit is no higher than 75 or so but the corvette looks much faster. Why would we let something like that on the road? So why have a sinisiter looking hot rod? beats me. I think I'll go buy a toyota like everyone else. :D

I get what your saying bonehead, and I do agree that there is a reason we like to build these things. It's precisely because they look the way they look. However we have been talking about safety issues here. Such as no front brakes= bad idea. Spider web grill with a skull in front= art. Saw blade hanging off your front end ready to slice and dice any unsuspecting pedestrian= bad idea. Remember that movie Death Race 2000 With David Caradine driving that corvette with that spike bar down the middle. Just something to consider.

Safety ii first and formost.
Allways gonna be guys at the fringes that have the potential to give anything a bad name.
I am very concerned about the laws that ARE coming wether we like it or not.

That paticular sawblade on that grill is yard art, I think.
Was there a saw blade on a running car? Thats kooky.

My grill with the saw blade, (which was really just flat metal cut out to look like a blade) ended up on a running car. The one RodGuy is talking about is something else.

No guys, the one that I saw was at least a 30" buzzsaw blade cut in half and turned on end and ran the full hight of this guys grill. So if he had even had a slow speed misshap with a padestrian...... well I think you all get the idea.

I really wish I would have saved that pic I'm sure you would have been freaked out by it to.

I was at a show where a Model A was chopped and channeled. The owner leaned against his car and the whole thing tilted. I looked inside and all the wood had been removed and there was no bracing. Another rodder in my neighborhood as a 30's something Dodge 4 dr. It's chopped and channeled but there's no front brake. You causually mention something and they just shrug.

Or how about the guy that runs with open pipes. There's a guy, down the street from me, that rides his off-road dirt bike through the neighborhood and it's irritating as h*ll.

It's people like that, that give this hobby a bad reputation and then they'll post a rant about how chicken a cop was for citing them.

The pics are back up on killbillet so I was able the grab that pic I was talking about...... I still think YIKES!

i agree, stuff like that is what is going to get us in trouble in the long run. who cares how scary it is as long as long as it is safe though. imo

call em or define them how you want but the best thing to me is if you use some imagination and safety you can build and i mean build a cool one of a kind ride i also like the fact that from start to finish everything on my truck is hand built by me .....im hooked ........some people just dont understand (hahahah ....it's a rat rod thing you wouldnt understand .......) i know you have seen the jeep stickers the say that :D
