Wannaby...we need to talk......
I'm not far from you...Northwestern Alberta.
I've thought about doing up an in line four cylinder longitudinally mounted engine in a motorcycle for some time now. It shouldn't be that difficult to do. I believe you may be committed enough to actually see something like this getting done....That commitment thing is always the biggest problem. Two big problems are the oiling and the clutch/transmission stuff. Charging, ignition and starting are rudimentary.
Have you looked into using the clutches and transmissions from Ural and Dnepr motorcycles? Lots on ebay...and reasonable prices. I think there is a Ural dealership in B.C.? Seems like these transmissions and clutches would be the ideal candidate's for adapting to the back end of an I-four. Could use a drive-shaft right off the tranny or one of the 90 degree bevel drives if chain rear sprocket.
Even got reverse....

I should let you aware..I am thinking of going a step farther with the longitude four cylinder engine thing.....and adding four more cylinders!!!
I got to let you know....I don't just do the talk. I need a winter project!!!
