When I did farm work as a teen, one farmer had a hired hand with a old beater. At one point he showed up with one pair of vice grips for the steering wheel. Eventually the windshield was missing. At some point before all that it got covered in crowbar marks...

My '55 Chevy had a '59 Olds steering wheel. Cut the ring off. Handle bars. Anyone with an actual wheel for steering doesn't know notice how the wheel spins violently when any tire makes contact with a curb. :rolleyes:

I had the steering wheel out of a 61 Olds (about the same shape) on my bicycle when I was a kid. That requires some practice, too.
 
just came across this photo on the web. I built the full size hotwheel display in the back :D I never took any pics of it and almost forgot I ever built it :rolleyes:
