It's rare to see a chop this well done. Nice going, Mike.
Thank's Bob, I got this chop job by luck. I did his sons doors (a few posts up) He drop in with his son and looked around at what I have going on and next thing you know I'm doing some work.

Looks awesome[dr. So when you coming to FL?:D
Thank's, With don, gastrick and all the others builders in FL I would starve to death.

looks like you are doing a great job!!! everything seems to be lining up well!!!
After a day of hammering out all the kid jumping on the roof dent I finaly got it to hold a shape.

and what it might be is now legal in colorado [P

Very nice job, is the owner short [S
Not legal yet, Had to give it up 20 years ago, It just kept making me stupid. Cab is not going to be channeled. Plenty of room for a low slung bucket seat and a 6' tall driver.

Should have the center done tomarrow, I'll get some pics up then.

Got the center peice in, got in a hurry and got to much heat on the driver side. Still have to do some hammer work. Didn't suck in to bad nothing over 3/16 so it all will be easy to fix.

Gold03 I know it is killing you on how to hammer and dolly the center, so my trick 3lb sledge with a 2' handle. always tap it to the roof so you know where it is at and go to hammering.

Ok...so you use the sledge as the dolly???

You use the sledge to hammer off the dolly?

Man....wish i'd known that before...

sledge as the dolly. I grounded the ends on a couple that I use.

although it could have been worse...a few areas looked a wee bit wavy....I pounded my butt off and ended up with bruises on my biceps and forearms from all the dolly work........ thanks for the tip...

Yep I push the welding to fast, one of those ok this last 1/2" won't hurt a thing

I alway look for sledge hammer at yard sales, 1 or 2 bucks. It takes a little doing to get use to doing this but after a while you get to a point where you know where it is on the roof, When working the center the arm starts to burn after a while.

Had one of those I'm stupid moments

Worked and worked at getting the twist out just above the doors and was just about to give up and then I remembered the two braces that I had in the upper door opening. cut them lose and pop went back in place, still have a 6" area that dips a 1/8" on each side put a little hard to get anything in behind the door opening frame, but the owner is happy with the chop and decided he is going to do a full restore on the truck. Roof needs a 16th skim on it and it will look good. cut the front windsheild frame just need to make two inserts for the frame to hold it together.

Thanks YBN

Roof is all tied in and braces are out, was able to get in above the door and swing a hammer with some meaning got the 1/8" low out. Filled in the last little peices above the doors, I don't have a cool bead roller so had to do them in three peices. Started trimming interior cover plates, cut the ends off and had to add a small peice to return into the window 0 to 3/16" in 3". Now that the hard stuff is done I'll be turning and burning on the rest.

And yes I did set a crate in it and make Vroom-vroom sounds, Got to test things yea know.

Got the back cab brace in that was cut out for the window. Finished back door opening posts, the split down from the corner I'll finish when the door goes back on so I can get the reveal right. Hammers out the braces in the rear of the cab and reshaped the back cab corners. Filled the old gas hole. started hammering interior trim peices to go back in.

Should have had you do my chop!!!

Thanks Neverdone, the way things are going I may just load my tools on my truck and become a traveling builder.

A grill shell walked in the door today. A couple hours and it walked back out. Pluged some holes and fixed a couple splits in the lower corners.

Let me know if you go that route!:D needing some metal fabrication and I have a spare room and food:D

See what the next 60 days bring, you never know.

Started on doors. Got lucky and got the hing bolts out on all but 1, it was welded in. A couple good days and I'll be done with my part.
