beautiful job on t-bucket...actually got a few pointers I mite try)))[cl

Thanks bud, it is getting there slowly. :D

We went to a show last Saturday, someone took this on the way.....about ten seconds before i ran out of gas. I was sure I'd dipped the tank the night before and had a couple of inches left in it.

Sounds like you need to re-calibrate you dip stick [ddd
I've ran out of gas two times in my 33 because of thinking I had enough fuel to make it around the block. Now I have a working fuel gauge :D

I finally decided to make a roof for the car.

First thing was to buy some 1" x 1/4" steel flat bar, about 30 feet, and some thinner stuff for reinforcement. The design was to look like a folding frame, but I decided to make it solid, but removable, it unbolts with four fasteners and lifts off, plus the fabric can be removed leaving just the frame on the car.

I did intend to put another vertical bar in the rear corners, but somehow forgot it. It can be don later as it is still only in primer right now.

I gave the upholsterer some piccies of what I was hoping he could do, but he is just a local guy and fixes sofas for a living most of the time. It turned out okay, but not 100% what I wanted. The material is very heavy vinyl and he busted about ten needled getting it done.

He did say he wasn't too happy with it himself, and it would have been far easier and tidier if I'd opted for a Carson style top, with fixed covering.

I had to get the seat cut down at the upholsterers as my head hit the roof, so now it is just 2" thick, and I still have to do the 'Milner stoop' to see properly....

The project took two days to cut and weld the steel and two more to get the sewing and stuff done. It cost about $200 altogether. I built it on the car, piece by piece, with very careful tacking and welding, so not to damage or set fire to anything.

I spent hours browsing the web to get the idea of what I wanted, the shape, profile etc.

And wish it was my garage, with carpet and air-con. :D It was a car show at a local hotel resort, Fontana.

Bit more messing about:

Carbs are Holley 600s, with the secondary fuel supply shut off. Filters are temporary, I'm building a scoop to go on it. I've fired it up already, seems to run and idle great, no road test yet.

Currently building a bigger bed for it as I always thought the old one looked too small. Several people also commented the same.

I used 16swg sheet, keep it nice and stiff.

Put a couple coats of red on yesterday.

And some clear coat loaded with red flake today. Only another ten coats of clear to go....

Thanks guys, it is still in a long slow transformation, never really will be finished. I plan on some aircraft style bucket seats, as the bench seat is too tall, so I guess I better buy some more sheet steel and start cutting.:)

I've blinged it up a bit more now, but not sure if I actually prefer this scoop to the home made one. It adds a totally different look to the car. I've wanted one of these for many years, so it is staying for now. [cl

I've finally given up on trying to make a 'local' radiator work, after an expensive explosion when a £100 electric fan made contact with a steel mechanical fan, and self destructed, and also put a bunch of holes in the rad. [S

I ordered a aluminium rad from Summit racing, so that will go on in a few days and hopefully all will be well in the cooling world. 100+ degrees here most days lately.

The man-hours and energy and money I've put into cooling this bloody thing.... I could have flown to the USA, stayed in a nice hotel, bought a top quality radiator and flown back.

I'm building a steel frame to mount it in, hold it steady.

Corners will be rounded, rubber will be added, welding will be finished etc.

I've discovered a service called I-parcel, from Summitracing.com. They will ship direct to me, by UPS, with all taxes and duties paid. Took 6 days to get here to the Philippines. It adds about 70% to the cost, but is far quicker and cheaper than normal postage, where I'd get ***** by local customs people for bribes and other rip=offs, and it would take three weeks or more.

I've fitted beefier rear springs too, 250lbs instead of 200.

That aluminum radiator should do the job. I've always wanted one of those scoops too. I like the look.
