Well I got a little more done. Made some mounts for the cab and front end.I found me a radiator and fuel tank at the swapmeet. Dont know what its for but the measurements were close enough. The tank says its for a '32 but with a little frame trimming its gonna sit nicely in the back.

I ordered a s10/v8 motor mount header kit.Because of the way things sit if you reverse the mounts it sets the motor back nicely and gives you a little room up front for fan and pulleys.I was right, gonna loose a little floor in the process.lol After I figure out where its all gonna be Ill make a hump and fix the floor around where the bat box was.

Well I got the frame trimmed so the tank will fit in. Pulled the leafs off and checking on location of rear end to see if Im gonna have to notch the frame or not and double check where I want the axle to be placed to best fit the proportions because I plan to take a little off the length of the bed.

I was having trouble knowing where to put the axle until I got my bed worked out. So I moved the fender back 4 1/2" and took 10" off the front of the sides. I know where the rear has to be now.

firewall/frame

are you boxing the frame to put the strength back in where you cut into it?

for the firewall/floor mods in mine l used an old wheel barrow, worked great to fill the hole and l cound not make those curves as nice as the "stock" ones on the WB.

Later

I probably wont box, I stair stepped the cut so as to not take to much away and wont be hauling anything.I left most of the firewall but gonna have to make up a hump.

Your truck is looking great Snake. I think the proportions of the box to cab are right on the money. If I may just add in my two cents worth, I think it would be a good idea to box in that step on the frame. I've been doing collision repair work for more than 25 years and that just sings out weak spot to me. It may never be a problem........ but. After all this great work it wouldn't be that much to just cover your bases. Keep up the great work. [cl

Id planned on welding it up(not done yet), but I may go ahead plate the inside for good measure. thanks

Looks good Snake. When I shortened my box sides, the spot welds were drilled on the stake pocket then welded back on after cutting off the excess.

Thanks,
I wanted to do it that way but I got lazy and not sure just how far Im gonna take this thing so I used the edge of the pocket seam.

Well its been a while.I got a guy I know who picked some 3x5 16ga sheetmetal from an auction. I got 13 sheets for $10.00 each.I cut me out some floor patches and made me some mini tubs.I took a fender from TSC and split it down the middle and capped and beaded the inside.
