Hello,
Been messing around with a 225 slant six mopar. While robust, they are not exactly powerful. Mocking up for a turbo which will be more fun. Currently running the stock 71/4" factory rear.
I just picked up a 70 Maverick rear 8". Non posi. Price was right less missing brake parts. Thinking disc brakes for it may be worthwile.
Will i need a posi? Thinking this will be only around 250-275 hp when sorted out.thanks

Look into locker kits for open diffs (won't work in posi carriers) some times called lunch box lockers, super easy installation. mines a Auburn Gear brand.

I installed one in my DD 2001 Blazer 7.5" rear diff. take off rear cover, remove side gears and diff gears, put in locker, install cover, fill with lube, drive it. no messing with ring and pinion.

What a difference, will not spin a tire, even if one is on black ice at stop light and other tire is on dry pavement, it just walks away like there is no ice on the road.

only thing different is, the blazer doesn't like real tight u-turns in 4wd, in 2wd turns as tight as before locker in rear.

Ok then,
I will look into then. Will have to go through the rear anyway to make sure its all good. Going to see what summit, jegs, etc. has got.
Thanks for replies

Hello,
No this wont be a burn out machine. Haha, slant six even possible ?
This will just be a fun cruiser i hope, with more go than the factory ever delivered. I got a 46 rat for burn outs though.
Both long term projects.

You can always upgrade later, but for just a driver a posi is not needed.
