My name is Tom. My home is back in RI. I am 18 yrs old. Currently I am in school at Univ. of Northwestern Ohio in Lima, OH. I am going for automotive/ high performance. I don't have car yet, but I am in the planning stages for it till I am done with school. I am planning on building a t-bucket cause of the cost of them, but I want to make almost everything myself in house, including the body. I want to make a air ride setup for it and make it look like a traditional rat rod. Thank you and if you have any tips I am open for anything.
Tom

Tom welcome to the site. Sounds like you have some work ahead of ya on that T bucket. It'll be sweet to watch it take shape.

Welcome to RRR. Might want to skim through the builds section to get a real feel for what your in for .... lots a fun!

Yeah I have been doing that and I really want to start working now, but I just keep going through my notes and rewriting them with some of the better ideas that I have seen done. Some of the work on I have seen on this forum is amazing. Truly one of a kind work.

Well, if you want a REAL traditional rat rod, just start gathering cheap parts and then figure out a way to make them work together. I guess what I'm saying can be summed up this way - just grab a piece a metal and start hammerin' on it. If you don't get it right on the first build, the second will be better.

... there's always a second build.... and a third.... :)

Ah, Lima, OH. Truck and tractor pulling meca.

I am looking forward to seeing what gems you pulled from the pages of RRR, as well as your own ideas. Keep us posted. Welcome to the site.

Thanks for the tip. I have back home pretty much all of the drive train back home. I have a 200r4 trans, I will probably end up using a T5 trans though. A complete 10 bolt rear end, front brakes, steering column & box, and a bunch of misc. parts from a 86 Monte Carlo SS. So that helped greatly. If you have any more tips feel free to tell me. I am open to anything.

Yes, It is totally different atmosphere compared to what I am used to back in RI. For one I never see traffic, thats a big time plus. Yeah the tractor/ truck pulls are pretty cool to watch, never saw one till I came out here. I must say Donsrods has given me a few ideas that really helped between his T and his sons 29' RPU. Those are two rods that are stunning.

Thank you. I have some ideas of my own and there are some that I have seen on other rods that I am going to borrow, but I am not make a identical match. I am going to have my own twist to everything.
