Hey everyone,
I was suggested this forum by a friend and former machine gunner of mine.
I'm a former factory trained mechanic and have a degree in automotive technology. For the most part I left that behind to join the military. I have also worked as a manager at an auto parts chain for a few years but left that job and regained my sanity.
I've had hot rods on and off through most of my life when ever lifes situations have allowed. I'm currently looking for a starting point from wich to build a traditional type rod.

Thanks for having me.

Welcome

I just got here myself, but welcome anyway.

As a Vet myself, I know how hard it is to be in a hobby like this with leaving for new assignments etc. i was constantly having to leave my rods, or rod projects with mom and Dad while I traveled the world. Fortunatly, my Dad was an old school rodder, so he didn't mind, and Mom just went with it, so i was lucky.

Thanks for serving, and hope you find what you want to build soon.

I've practicaly given away 3 hot rod mustang projects, sold my slammed '81 F150 driver for chicken feed, and my beloved '66 F100 for less than the metal was worth due to deployments and a semi nomadic life for the past 20 years. Now I'm married and have a house with a garage. I hope to finally get one finished.

Thanks ya'll

Feel your pain brother

I feel that pain. Believe this or not, but because I transfered to a new base back in 1980 I traded a 1949 1st series Plymouth P15 coupe for a 1974 Pinto. Yeah, insane, but my Plymouth busted a tierod just 2 days before I was due at my new base. If I was older and smarter, I would have trailered it, but I was young, stupid and despret to get to my new asignment, and an older gent wanted my Plymouth, and offered me the pinto that would at least get me to my new duty station, and thinking I had no choice, took the bait. I kick myself in the ass still today over that loss.
