Started playing with 4 tractor headlights all of which are 1156 single pole buckets. They all will have new life with 1157 double pole bulbs: two as tail/turn/brake (for up on the headache rack) and two will be tail/turn (for the rear outside lights).

Looks wise the reflectors where in need of some TLC but first things first. Time to drag out the ‘ol Dremel tool and modified the existing bulb socket to accept the new bulb! I took one of the existing slots and made it longer/wider to let the new pig tail move freely up and down the full length of the lengthened slot. On the opposite side where the 1156 bulb nipple “locked in” to the socket- I had to modify that for the offset nipple of the 1157 bulb to set in properly. It was a little loose in the socket there so a couple of taps with a big flat blade forced it into submission.

A bit of scuff pad work cleaned the reflectors up to some degree and then I put some chrome paint on it. I think someone here mentioned it will not help reflection but it sure looks nicer and certainly won’t hurt! New gaskets around the glass lenses and we’re on our way.

Up on the headache rack I welded a couple nuts together then welded them on the rack for mounting the lights. Wanting to visually “clean up” the attachment point I split a piece of pipe and welded those on. Adding some new brass fittings out the back of the buckets, the wiring will be run through some copper pipe to its new destination- and hey! The ‘ol tear drop tractor lights will be aero dynamic!

Went to a killer swap meet last Saturday from my old neck of the woods and picked up some really cool glass lens running lights for my ‘triple’ on the back end of the truck (truck/tractor style) from Ben (thetaillightking.com ) who has an insane variety of old and odd vintage lights and lenses. [cl

Surface mounting them on the rear x-member (between the tail/brake lights) would be typical but what fun is there in that? Lined it all up, center punched some holes, and made noise with the hole saw.

I figured ½” spacers would be the ticket and got those out of a piece of drill stem. Reduced the diameter for the light to properly set against them, then welded them against the inside of the x-member and outside making a slight curve into the recess- rough finish of course.

Holding the lights in place started out as a single piece of 2” flat bar to hold all three lights. For that install seems I needed a 3rd arm and extra long fingers on at least one hand, to get them all in the holes, then put on the strip down over all 3.

I reworked that bracket to install/remove each light individually-much better. After all was done, I'm really digging this look.

Hey Mr. Iron. I am moving the links over because I flat out don't know how to simply insert the pics alone. (limited techno patience ) I see mostly the thumbnails on most of everyone else's and occasionally the bigger ones. Would surely be nice to know how to simply do either-or with no more link clutter-I-zation.

You've got the upload part mastered.
Under the post box, where it says Attached Files it shows the pic links as a jpg.
Right mouse click on the jpg line then, left mouse click on the Copy Link Address
At the top of the post left mouse click on the yellow mountain icon when it opens right mouse click in the long blue box then click paste. It will then be inserted into the post as a large picture.
Don't worry about the http:// on the left side of the blue box it will disappear as you paste the copied link.
To do multiple pics in the post just repeat the above procedure.
Where ever the mouse curser is in the post box is where the pic will show up.
This seems like a lot of trouble but, after you do a couple it gets easy.
