I got me a new project but my incompetence with the computer keeps me from posting pics. I did buy it off ebay though, its a 57 Fairlane Gasser project. Can't wait to get started. If you paid close attention to some of my earlier post you would know that I think 57 Fords are possibly the best body style ever produced. And you would aslo know that I've always wanted to build a Gasser. Gonna kill two birds with one stone here!!! Wish me good luck.

rainman, If you email me your photos, I will post them here. PM me for my email. In the mean time, congrats! This should get your juices flowing :)

I've seen this one before, think it's a 300. Mine is a 500 not quite sure I like the 500 as well as the 300 done as a gasser. But I'll see what I can do. Anybody else got any 57 gasser pics it would be greatly appreciated.

I love those body styles too. Almost bought a hardtop convertable many yearsa go. Can't remember the year, because I think they only built those for a year or two, but it was 57 or 58? maybe 9? but the same era anyway. Loved those things..

I love it, I love it, I love it!!! Use to be one in Sarnia ON about 40 years ago or better. It sat in the Sarnia Speed Shop parking lot for quite awhile. The engine and trans disappeared after a bit, while the rest continued to sit outside and deteriorate for a few more years. It finally vanished, no idea where it went, or who got it. It was done in silver with a black frame and running gear. Big and littles on 5 spoke aluminum wheels. Interior was black with white piping if I remember right. Engine stuck up through the hood, tunnel ram and carbs, don't know what the engine was though. Had a name painted on the back quarter panels, but I can't remember what it said. Fell right in love with that car....but I didn't have a pot to pee in, or a window to throw it out of, so owning it was out of the question. Hadn't crossed my mind for some time, but I never forgot it, made quite an impression back then. Congratulations Rainman.

It's surprising you don't see more 57 Fords any more, compared to 57 Chevies. Was it that they were prone to rust or just not as popular and therefore crushed? I've always liked them too, and when you find one they are generally pricey.

Ford outsold Chevy in '57 but you couldn't tell it now. I never got too excited about rare collectable models but i always wanted a supercharged '57 Ford. They sold just enough to the public to meet the requirements for Nascar at the time.

Back in the fifties it seemed to me that people with Fords and espeicialy
Mopars just didn't take as much pride or as good care of their cars as some of the GM owners did.

As far as 57 fords not being around much any more, I guess the movie thunder road took care of a few of them! ha ha I have literally wanted one of these since I was 8 years old, and I'm almost 53. If all works out as planned I will own it when I am no more!!

Thats why I would prefer them..

I like the 57 Fairlane much more than the Belaire just for the reason that they aren't seen as often. No offense if there are any 55-57 Chevy guys here, but, who don't own one, or did at some point? They got so popular over the past 20 years, they just aren't that special to me anymore. I tend to love the ones that ya don't see every day.

I like the 57s except for the front headlights - I don't like how they pop out like bug eyes or something.

I've seen some with the headlights frenched and looks much better.
