Well, I've drifted back! Sure have missed this forum and will try do make it back more often!

Hope you all have been doing well. My physical health is back to full speed ahead and the house build is way too slow but coming along nicely.

On the rat side I've finally started working on the '30 again! I'll try to get a few pics up before long. Here's clinking a cold beer to y'all!

Well I've had some time to work on the overhead console and have it just about there. Front panel all riveted in. The empty hole was an engine hours gauge that didn't clear quite good enough with the air lines coming up so I'll figure out something else to put in there.

that old clock would sure cover that hole in the dash nicely.
Hey Gene! It would indeed. My brain is churning on the continued design there. I'm thinking hard on a simple but smooth way to have a spot/s for things like sunglasses, etc. A rib down the middle of the roof? Dunno just yet.
Then there's a backup camera for hooking up trailers. Was thinking about having that drop down from behind the original dash but my bride mentioned that being awful low, then pointed to the upper console and said, "can you have it drop down from up here". That really got me to thinking then!

Very cool overhead panel.
Thanks Bob. Seeing the stage where it is now makes me so very glad I had decided to raise the roof on the truck. I'm wanting to come up with a cool idea of where to set sunglasses and such. Maybe an overhead 'rib' in the middle of the roof (front to back)? TBD...
I've got an idea about a dome light which might work out hanging on the bottom side of that rib???? Gotta love creating stuff!

I guess how much head clearance you have could impact something hanging from the roof.

But it could just be me. I can somehow manage to bang my head on anything with in 6' of my head. Its a special skill I have...

Looks awesome Charlie!
Thanks Coup!

😆 x 2! Trust me Gene I'll be considering that for sure. Right off the bat I know it'd have to be real thin so that will be "use limiting" to some degree. As it is, I'll be making a small thin (dense) pad for the back of my head 😵‍💫🤪

The gauges and over head console are very cool!! Love the style!!!
Thanks Lowbudget!
Another "add to the pondering" list is a good look for the air horns (and 3 cab lights) up top. With that will be the pull chain for the horns. Likely a bulkhead fitting of some sort? Never looked at how those are ran on the big rigs.

For sure will be adding a set of west-coast mirrors on the doors, but with the narrowness of the cab even those won't be out far enough to have good sight pulling the RV trailer. (Yes I am seriously going to at least try it. 🤪:D. ) Was thinking about some bar/gear extensions of some sort with a smaller set of mirrors that would be both structurally AND aerodynamically stable.

Just might be time for a rack up top. Any crazy ideas send 'em this way!

Just got around to this. I can look at steampunk style all day. Very inspired by what you have done there OS.
