I started this Cushman 3 wheel Truckster about 5 years ago and here we are in dry storage. I grabbed some sheetmetal and four 59 Caddy tail lamps and got the bed started. I guess in a week or 2, I could have it rolling if I'd get on the ball...

Ain't it a small world??

I just sold one of the Ex N Y P D ones I had for about 10 years. It was a 1995, had a 3 cyl engine and auto trans. It was neat but I just have to many rides

I dig the V8 one

Here's the one I sold

When I was growing up the local trash hauler used cushmans. We thought they were cool.

buddy has one

a buddy reworked one for him and his 3 year old to play around on their farm, he gave it some petina and and had "Mater" pinstriped on the sides since his boy was a "cars" fanatic, it was pretty cool lil ride

I'm 62 now and I remember when I was around 9 or 10 my dad rode us kids around in a Cushman with 2 wheels and an open box up front and one in the rear. It had a steering wheel instead of bars. I also remember him selling it at a local weekly auction house that has long since gone out of business. I think he got 40 or 50 bucks for it

I looked for a photo of one with no luck, but I've seen pix on the internet in the past

Parking meter readers used those when I was growing up. Haven't seen a running one in years.

Ahh, Bamamav, I see you found the Cushman thread. I just mentioned it on a reply to you over in the Cars For Sale postings.

Yes, the red one I had was a meter maid one I think. It said N Y P D on it when I got it. Was blue & white with lights on roof. Ran maybe 45 mph tops, but was a neat ride

That would be sweet with a late model crotch rocket motor...say a cbr900r:D

I just grabbed this photo to post here but I think I read an article on this Cushman and the fellow did a very nice job swapping a Honda Goldwing setup into the old girl. I think I got the right photo as you can see the Goldie valve cover just under the seat
Here's the link to the web page I found the photo on. There's a lot of creative builds there if anyone cares to take a closer look

talked

l talked to lou, the owner of that yellow one, it has a 11OOcc gold wing in it.

he has several variations of cushmans and is building one with a bigger gold wing engine that has reverse, said he's tired of having to push this one when he can't turn around.

he a nice guy and gave me several pointers on how to do mine correctly.

Yes, even though it may have been under powered in it original life, it did have reverse. I think he could make a reverse for the yellow one. They do it somehow with an electric motor add-on kit when they build the aftermarket trikes out of Hondas & Harleys

I believe the newest Gold Wing's use the starter motor on inverted voltage to accomplish reverse.

These are some cool-a** machines. Thanks for sharing the pics!

Shea:)
