am I reading this meter right ? I have a charging problem with my mower and it says to read the ohms on the armature pin ,, ok ? does this mean you stick one lead on the pin and the other to ground or what ? its not clear , I guess they think they were talking to people that new what they were doing :D Its supposed to read 0.00 or 0.01 and it will be good .. 0812141806-00.jpg

this is an ohm meter right ? if right do I have it on the right setting ?[S I put one lead on ground and the other on the pin and it read 0.00 on both pins .. if this is the meter i;m supposed to use .

That is the Ohms setting. It probably means across the pins, not to ground. A reading of 0 to .01 means there is almost no resistance at all. A big number or infinite reading would mean a short.

so the two wires that come out of the armature is the ones I put it too ? one lead on each wire ? they called it pins but its just two wires on mine .

Since it's way outside their #'s, I would guess it's going bad. Be aware, that you need to press the leads onto the wires firmly, and don't let them touch anything conductive (including your fingers if possible)

I joined a john deere club to try and get some help , but that hasnt happen yet , one fellow told me if I wasnt getting 12.75 volts on the battery I had a charging problem ???????????????????????? WTF I guess he was trying to help .... he must have typed before he thought ,, I do that a lot myself . My heading was (25 horse Kohler not charging)
