Im finding old car prices to be puzzling. I started out looking in the $3000 range and Im completely aware that that wont get me much. However when I started going into the $5000-6000 range it doesnt seem to get me that much more of a car in terms of condition. And Im not talking ones a Chevy and ones a Ford. Ive seen many pairs that were in the same condition & area be $2000 apart. One mans old car is another mans Barret Jackson collectors car right? Crap! I thought this would be easy.

Snoopin'!!!

What decade of car are you trying to acquire... that makes a lot of difference & you will probably have more luck looking locally! Best start snooping around big time... good luck!!!

Im open to any make 55-65. Im actualy in a good spot I think. Chicago, Milwaukee & Madison are with in 100 miles. Iowa isnt too far off also. Ive got a page full of prospects(yes I actualy used paper and a pencil!) so I was just sharing my opinion pretty much.

I have seen them all across the board too. Has a lot to do with location, model, and sentimental value to the owner. Some times you can find one where the owner tells you haul it for them. Doesn't happen often but it does happen.

I just sold my 52 plymouth. I wasnt feeling it, it wasnt talking to me, so i sold it for what i paid for it.

100 dollar bill. Only thing rusted out was the floors, and it still had the flathead 6 in it. Wish i wouldve known you was looking, you couldve took that 3 grand and drove down here and got it.

But yes ive seen cars go for high prices and be in pretty bad shape. But ive never seen one go for a good price, and in decent shape lol.

I went to a swap meet up in Jefferson WI and for 3k I couldve bought 1 of the many chit box 80s cars up there:rolleyes: Ive been like a junkie jonesin for a fix on craigslist and our local paper.
