No longer a T build....

I finally got myself a body... Just not a T bucket body. I already have plans in place for a longer wheelbase out of my T frame, but here are pics of my new body still sitting over in Minnesota... Gotta finish paying for it yet, but can get my frame ready while I wait!

Forgot about this other stuff...

Picked up an intake for my 318...

And a visor...

And a new toy to get me started on splitting my bones.

Still need to get me a good welder so the fun can really begin!

Really like how you are keeping this cheap and basic instead of throwing money at it. Rat Rodding at it's best.

A couple days ago I decided to try my hand at some metalwork...

Just kidding on the metalwork part! Photo chopping, followed by computer retouching only... I'm not planning on chopping this one, unless I get really good at welding following the purchase of a new welder (hopefully in the next month or so!)

I do want the roof to have that slight forward rake though!

Yeehaw! 3 Day weekend begins!

After spending 40 monotonous hours at this desk:

I get some time to play!
Made my engine look a little more like an engine, and put it in an approximate location...

Then I had to set up some other components around it:

Looks like I will have room back here for my radiator and grill shell:

And I marked a couple of lines thinking about z'ing the front and a little more in the rear, also allowing me to extend my frame for the A body.

Slow goings....

Haven't made a whole lot of progress, with having to keep my wife's car in the garage all winter. Just yesterday I got me some doors (finally!). They need some work, but they are better than the nothing I had for passenger side:

Got some crusty looking metal and wood out of the body:

I did get a new welder over the winter, and made a torch holder of sorts lol:

A little table I made for working on frame/body:

Front spring mount tacked in place:

And I got my wishbones split and ends tacked in place:

I have my tie rod ends and some under frame brackets from speedway, maybe today is the day they get tacked on so I can make half a roller? Also in two weeks from today, I will be DRIVING my new engine/trans home. 1974 Dodge 360/727 from a 68000 mile motorhome. Just have to make it not a motorhome before driving it so it will fit in my garage :)

I'm with samfear

good to see your back at it, a little here and a little there and you'll be driving before you know it [cl
Every thing looks good to date.

Brings back memories of my old 31 Model A [cl
After seeing them pictures today, it may bring back more memories. Seriously considering shortening my body now. But I will leave the roof on!

And back to the project:
Thanks to Todd I have some shiny red wheels...

I got out to the garage and measured a few times and tacked some brackets on to my frame:

And it springs on it's own!!!

Of course it is all just tacked together, and nothing bolted tight, but it is progress!

Not sure if the stock tie rod is going to work or not yet, but it is in there with some vice grips for nuts :D

PS: The cool stands under the axle are also thanks to Todd!

Red wheels means it's a real hot rod now. I think mine was shortened 15 inches, but then had to radius the lower edge of the door to follow the wheel opening.

Was good meeting you, too bad I was short on time.

Yes, it is always nice meeting fellow rodders, rat or other! It was worth the 6 1\2 hours of my day![;)

I think I'm just gonna go for 12" shortening, should move wheel well right up behind door, then I can just reverse the firewall for a couple extra inches.... Should work out. I think.

new dodge part!

Not much of an update, but I went to the Princeton, MN car show today and found me a new grill shell. Old dodge is what I'm told, and looks way better with the A than the fiberglass t bucket shell...

Also of note.... Going to get my engine tomorrow along with the motorhome it is in...

I would bet that's a Willys overland grill shell. If it's not it's really close to it.
