We've been makin progress just been slow to post Sorry
I installed the cam yesterday
Elgin 284 duration 480 lift
Z28 valve springs
Elgin lifters
Cloyes double roller timing chain
Bearing in the upper sprocket to keep the the cam from walking.
New valve seals.
One piece pan gasket.
The intake is a 2101 Edelbrock, I cut a hole in the front for the nostalgia look oil filler tube.
Old Chevrolet script valve covers. I installed a pcv valve and baffle in one for ventilation.
Eric painted it and used automotive Hot Rod Flatz Atomic Orange Pearl.
The reason it's shiny is it hasn't flashed out yet.

I'm falling in love with your project. This is essentially what I want to build, but with big fat tires in the back.

Bullfrog Green? That's going to look SUPER sexy. Those weld jobs along the drive shaft (curve tube down the center), experienced welder too.

I guess that's why they call you Old Iron :) I'm thrilled to see how this project ends. I didn't see where you posted about the frame/cab, did I miss that in a later post? 15 pages is a bit to read :p[P

Yep, you missed it.
The bullfrog green was replaced with root beer.
And metallic bronze.
Old Iron , pulled a fast one on me !
But the bloody thing looks awsome!
And, the motor was supposed to be flat black...
I'm totally blinded, by this gorgeous atomic orange motor !
Old Iron can swap colors faster than Marshall Dillon! !
I'm extremely pleased with his work.
On a scale of one to ten... he's a 20 !!
Ya know?
He said we'd be driving it to springfield in a week and a half...
I'm thinking he's gonna make it happen !![cl

I'd bet good money on that.
You're definitely getting what you paying for and probably more.

Amen on that !!
I'm starting to think he likes it more than me ???
How is that possible? ??
Jim and his Son Eric....
Both have told me, they absolutely love working on my truck.
I'm very happy to hear that.[cl

Installed the taillights, 39 Chevy
Installed the engine and decided to black out all the brackets and alternator [ddd
The white header gaskets are getting trimmed so they don't show so bad :(

We got the header turnouts finished today.
Where the collectors ended at the body was rusty and is where I cut the front corner of the doors for the clearance.
There are 11" spiral core baffles in the collectors and can be taken out when the turnouts are removed for that open header sound.
I will finish the area around them after the Mid America show this coming weekend.
