I haven't post any pictures for a while. Here is my steering column mock up. It is a tilt/tele of my own design. I used the slider from the Astrovan shaft to make my telescoping part. The part the steering wheel bolts to was made by a friend on his lath, it will get a final smoothing. Since the dash supports the outer end of the shaft it needed quite a bit of bracing.

Pretty crafty. I don't think I've ever seen tilt/telescopic cowl steering before.

It's also power steering but I think I will loop the hose for now, get into running the hoses and pump when I have more $$.
I doubt if I use the tilt feature much after I get it comfortable but I needed the tele so I could get in and out because the doors are small and the steering wheel needed to be further back to get the ergonomics correct.

What locks the position on the tele ?

I had a groove machined into the inner shaft and a bolt threaded through the outer sleeve correspondes to that. I guess you can't see it in the picture. It will get a knob.
Also I may have to eliminate the tilt. I have it on a threaded heim joint but there is just too much play in that heim, the steering wheel can move about 1 1/2 inches side to side when extended.
There is a lot of leverage on it since the u-joint is right up against it on the back and 8-9 inches of shaft in extended position on the steering wheel side.
