Question about Ft. Wayne Indiana

Does anyone know what kind of City Fort Wayne Indiana is good or bad? My oldest Daughter graduates on Thursday with a degree in broadcast journalism and has a job offer there. I've read up on it but it's kind of hard to to get a vibe on it without going there myself or asking some one who's been there.[S

Never been there, but here is what I found on the net. Looks like a pretty safe place.

It looks like the Southside of Ft Wayne is not the best part of town, according to what I was reading on some sites. But every town has a section like that, even the very best towns. We have sections down here where I wouldn't drive around in either.


Some of our Indiana guys should be able to tell you for sure.

Alot of Amish communities all around and fuddy duddy small towns

OffRoad, We live south of FW about an hour. Been around & thru the city many times . What Don mentioned is correct. Once you are away from the city in any direction you are in farm country. Many nice communities. On the North side of town they have been building a new hospital for quite some time now. Looks awesome! There is another nice hospital on the west side. We watch some of the local t.v. from there always seems pretty calm,but then there is always something happening in a city.

They tend to get more snow then us. From where you guys are that might give some comfort to your daughter!

It's about a hour from me. It don't have reputation as a bad town or a good town. It's like most city's as mentioned. It has the low end just like others, if you want trouble you can find it or you can avoid it.

IMO I would look at living outside of town and communiting to work.

ZZ rat you should live close to me. What town are you near? I'm in Summitville.

21willys, We are due east of you as the crow flies. Our farms are on the east side of a little burg called Deerfield where U.S.27 crosses Indiana 28.

We go to Muncie pretty often. If we ever get our build done sure hope to run into you somewhere.

Sounds like a nice place. Princeton and Evansville are the only place I've ever been for any length of time in Indiana. I drove through Gary Indiana one time and stopped for gas. I'm thinking I must have been on the wrong side of town though cuz it felt a little sketchy there.
Anyway, she graduates tomorrow and if she takes the job, she'll be there by 1/7/13. So you guy's that live near there might see her on the news someday.
She's a pistol, it won't surprise me if she's doing national news some day.

I've been to Evansville for a few shows. It's comparable IMO. Gary is horrible of what I've heard, never been there tho.

What news station will she be working for?

I finally remembered

to post the station our daughter will be working for in Fort Wayne IN.
It's WFFT-55 TV. She leaves in a couple days for the trip out I-80.
