Sorry, Don. I should have picked up on that... off to the eye doctor I go!

.

Haha, actually, when I took those pictures last night and I reviewed them, the grille shell came out looking black to me too. I guess there is so much black on the car that it reflects off of the chrome.

Today I went to the shop and got the body off of that wooden cart it is on so I could get the cart scrubbed down to get any sanding dust off of it, and I wiped down the underside of the car to remove any dust there too.

I got the firewall all taped up so I can spray it white when the black is dry, and it looks like maybe Friday we will be able to finally spray the final paint on the whole body. I really am going to take my time because the last thing I want to do is get a run or mess it up somehow and have to start sanding all over again.

Looks terrific. Like those whitewalls and caps. [cl [P

Thank you. Me too, I am a creature of habit, I tend to put WW and caps on everything.

Tonight my son Dan sneaked over to the shop and just got home. He worked on the final piece of the body, the dash rail. It was jacked up in places and needed some body work. He got it straight and then sandblasted it, so tomorrow I can shoot some primer on it and get it ready for paint.

Here are some pictures he took for me. The last picture, with the painted dash, was what it looked like before he worked on it. It looks better in that picture than what it really did look like.

Today was a VERY good day ! We finally got the final coats of Hot Rod Black sprayed on the body, and it actually came out pretty good. No runs, only one bug and Dan got that out with tweezers before the second coat, and we got every inch of it covered.

It is still wet in these pictures, and it will tame down a lot, but I could not be happier or more relieved. It has been a long road to get to this point, and all I have to paint now is the dash rail, and then the bed, when we get that built.

Did I mention that I am very happy ! Sorry for the crappy indoor pictures, but we wanted to get it inside before more bugs landed on it.

Thanks, guys !

I've been gone a few days, did I miss something? The pictures make it look hot rod black.

Yep, the red is gone and I have gone black. Today I pushed it out into the sunshine to get a better look at it and to let it cook in the sun a while. I am very happy with the results.

I will let the black cure for a few days and then tape it up and shoot the firewall in the off white color.

Dan worked on getting the dash rail straighter today, and while he was doing that I painted the Kugel Komponents underdash brake set up. I also sprayed the 56 Ford pickup steering box, and a few other minor parts.

I think the next step is to pick up a sheet of 1/2 thick Starboard and start building the seat framework. Then I can push the body down to the upholstery shop near me and let them do some rolling and pleating.

Here are some pictures from today.
