off set

the body is going to be off set to a bit to the left, just the way the chassis is designed, that will leave the passenger side frame rail out side of the body, but that is how it sits and to change it is more work than l want to do for a race car type build.

should look 0K and the passenger side door won't open so l don't have to worry on that part.

may have to trim 4'' to 6'' off the bottom of the doors and where the outside firewall hangs down.

put it together, take it apart, repeat often.

got the body back off ready to start trimming for final fit in the next week or two.

my welding friend came over and we figured out the motor mounts and trans mount. he has to fab new motor mounts to center the engine and weld them in the chassis. [

the whole drive train will have to fit a little different for street driving. also some fabbing for a bigger radiator to keep cool since it's not going 20-50 laps and get parked for a week. it's going to driven a bunch.

l am going to use 1 big electric fan or 2 small ones and with no hood sides or fenders l think it should be fine, l will hook them up to run off a toggle switch.

plan B: 1 inch hole saw and some air flow holes in the nose of the hood.

slow progress

l finished removing the window, guts and odds & ends out of the drivers door.
l'm leaving in the door latch so the door will open and close per the RCW vehicle codes.

figure l took out 60LBS of metal just outta the drivers door today, man those 40's dodge are made out some heavy stuff.

l got the roof "flap" cut off and did a little more mock up, probably going to have to cut the bottom of the car body off 5 or 6 inches to get every thing to line up.

either that or chop the top(s), l think cutting the bottom will be easier.

if you look inside, notice the top of the roll cage . the seat mount is 1'' off the floor so as the body's sitting right now l can't see out over the dash

going slow, but still moving foreward.

l will be taking the car to my friend by Marysville. he is a wiring guru, builds his own harnesses from scratch for his hot rods. l am just flat out amazed at his talents, he does welding, fabbing and just over all great work. so grateful to have him involved in this project.

l found a complete car l got for a lot less than the money l would have to put in the other chassis.

just got do a lot of clean up and some trimming, weld up some things, change the upper A arms and l will be month's ahead of schedule to get it on the road for car show season.

SBC 400, turbo 350 and a camaro rearend, 75 camaro clip, power steering so l can run the 1O'' tires on all 4 corners.

camaro parts will help save a ton of coin when it needs something.

the booger welds gotta go. some nice weld and then some not so nice welds on the car.

never heard of "QUICK-CAR'' guages, they look nice.

this cockpit has about 6 inches more foot room and about 8 inches wider, great for us fat guys.

more trimming and fitting,,,

hoods a little high, but will wait to adjust final fit till the rest of the body is fitted to the chassis.

love the "wide stance" look this thing will have. l am running 8'' wheels & 10" tires on the front and 10" wheels & 12" tires on the back.

l have enough room on this chassis to put in a passenger seat & 4-way safety belts, l will have to fabricate a floor pan, a firewall, run the windshield all the way across instead of just my side and rerun wiring and fuel/tranny lines.

let me know what ya think about that idea of riders.
