Hey all! Found the forum about a month ago, and you all seem like pretty rad guys. I've read a few of your builds, figured I'd share the one I've been neglecting!
I've got a '56 Studebaker President that I picked up a few years ago for next to nothin', and I've been working on it slowly. (see; 2 bolts/year)
Originally, it was going to be a typical rat rod, but lately I've been drooling over gasser pics and haven't been able to find any Studebaker gassers of this era. I had a lead on a front end, but I'm not sure if it's dried up. I am planning on running a 428 Pontiac engine that I've sourced sitting in a 69 Bonneville Hearse. (Might get the hearse back on the road with a 350 as a tow vehicle/camper for the gasser?)
I'm a younger guy with limited income, so it'll be very slow progress, if any. The car's been sitting at an acquaintances house for over a year, so I'm not even sure if it's still 'mine', per se.
Lookit' that ass...
The night I picked her up!
Soooo.... yeah! Don't expect much progress updates from me, but all comments and tips are welcome.
on THAT note, anyone know anything about a gasser's rear suspension? The way the tire sits in the radiused rear quarter, are the leaf springs virtually stiff? Hmm...
