Thanks guys. Very lucky that there was not more damage. A couple of friends came over today and helped clean. My friend Gus brought his man lift and that made life a lot easier. here are some pics of the garage, some cleaned and some not.

Fire is my worst fear and I'm glad you didn't lose everything.

Insurance is good, if those pirates cover you completely, but you still have to rebuild and I don't wish those issues on anybody.

.

Thanks Doc. In this case, dealing with the insurance company probably wasn't worth it. After the deductable, the time it takes, them denying the claim for using a wood stove that burns waste oil and waiting for a restoration company I decided to do it myself. On top that I don't really want someone I don't know in my garage with all my tools and toys. I wouldn't know if something was missing until I went to use it.

Got a lot more cleaned out today. more friends came over and helped clean. I threw out a lot of stuff I haven't seen or used in years. It's amazing how much stuff I have collected in the last 15 or so years. I have two more corners of the garage left and there is a lot of stuff to be moved and cleaned out . Hoping to get it done before the weather turn to crap. Supposed to get cold and snow again shortly.

Thanks guys. It's going well. I had so much help from friends and relatives I was a little overwhelmed. I'm about 80% done cleaning then I have to put all the stuff that was taken down and out of the shop and put it back. I have about a yard and a half bucket on the payloader that is over flowing with scrap that has to be sorted plus another that I dumped. I still have to replace the cieling fans and the melted air lines. I thought it was going to take longer than this. Thanks for all the support.

Has always been my worst fear also. In a post a while ago I mentioned to one of us that's building a new shop, sc5080 I think, about having fire extinguishers. I have quite a few in the garage. I used up two before I went for the hose. On a brighter note. I think I'm done pressure washing the ceiling and walls. Now on
to the air lines and ceiling fans. and putting stuff away. Some before and after pics.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune but glad you were able to get it out before it did to much damage. This makes me glad that I am using natural gas to heat my shop - much less dangerous. But also makes me more determined to pick up a couple more fire extinguishers before I start doing any welding in my shop. Hopefully I will never need them. I did buy a couple of flame proof sheets to cover the walls in the area where I intend to put a welding bench.

Thanks guy. I'm amazed that it got cleaned up this fast. I had 3 nephews. and 7 friends and one of their grandsons all at different times. I guess I'm lucky to have good friends. The funny thing is I only called one friend that is retired because he is a great car detailer. After that it just people showing up on their way by as usual and then pitching in to help. Others heard through the grape vine and showed up.

I got a little done on the cab this weekend. Welded the braces into the back of the cab, they were cut out when I chopped the rear window. After that I decided to fix the passenger door opening and door. The top of the door and opening were flat and not arched enough. They didn't match the drivers side and the window wasn't going to fit right. Luckily I had another door to use. They still need more work but they look a lot better.
