A taste of home!

I don't have a "Rat Rod." In all likelyhood, I will probably never own what you guys consider a "Rat Rod."

The reason I never joined the "other site" was because there seemed to be a vocal, snobby few who seemed to make those "different" leave town. Kinda like the pork site, but in the opposite way.

Not to mention, there seemed to be an abundance of "cars" being "built" over there which have absolutely no business EVER being operated on ANY road!

Oh yeah and that retarded "Reverend" over there....just seemed to me to be some gang banger from East L.A. with an attitude and no real love of the automobile....should be banned from the internet permanently....

Why am I here? I LOVE this place! I saw Donsrods, Gastrick and others first over at clubhotrod.com but there seem to be alot of "money snobs" there, too. I'm more of a "let's see what I can scrounge for free or cheap" and try to make something good out of it. Doesn't matter if it's trying to fix up my rusty old S-10 (avitar pic) or my beat-down 50 year old bungalow....I'd rather scrounge than spend. My wife kinda forces this, too, as she's the bread winner, I make less than her and have to do side work most times if I want money. ;)

Anyhoo, a big "THANKS" to Tripper for building this place and ALL the great members who make it a wonderful place to hang out.

I'll pass on the beer (don't drink anymore). Think I'll go out for a smoke now, tho.

Regards,
Shea:)

I like this place because I wasn't roasted for showing my 6 figure custom, not like those 2 other self righteous sites that made me feel very unwelcome.
I'm not a money snob by no means, I'm just a blue collar worker heavily in debt.

My home club is Canadian Rodder Hot Rod Community http://canadianrodder.com/ and they treat everyone with respect and will not dump on you for building whatever you wish to drive.
I encourage all to check us out on the Canadian site, you'll be surprise as to the warm welcome you'll receive.
Many members from all walks of life and all corners of the world.

I must apologise to you, sir, I meant no offense to those who spend big dough on their wheels. If you've got it, (or feel justified to go in debt for it) then go for it.

Your Studie is one fine machine and I was very impressed with the build photos you shared with us.

I'm just diggin' on the whole grassroots, scrounge-for-it thing because that's where I am and what I can afford.

Canadian Rodder is pretty awesome, too. I've checked out their website a time or two.

Oh and Trip, I'd LOVE to dump the tobacco too.....my head's not in the right place yet. Someday soon, I hope...:(

Shea:)

No apologies necessary, I didn't take your post as an insult. I choose to go overboard with my build which put me in debt. It never started out that way but as life would have it, my wife was diagnosed with cancer and passed away 9 yrs. ago. I promised her that I would finish the car. To make it extra special I decided to go all out in her honor, besides it's only money and it's insured for when I leave this world, I'll leave no debt behind.

Thank you for the cudos, it means a lot to me that people like what I've done. Wendy would be very happy I'm sure.

Yep, I read your comments on Skull's build thread for his son's Dodge truck.

Both of you guys get MAJOR props from me, for being able to go on and not buckle under the pressure of your losses.

Being able to memorialize a lost loved one by finishing something you started together will, I'm quite sure, keep you Dear Ones close by your heart.

The Mom of one of my oldest friends put it best once while we chatted at a car show-"George comes to show the car, I come to watch the people and meet new friends! :D There just ain't no better explaination for the car hobby than that. The cars are, quite literally, the "vehicle" for us to meet new folks who share a common interest.

Wishing you all a good evening.

Regards,
Shea:)
