Part 2...
I mentioned that I had met and talked to Al “Mousie” Marcellus
at the John Force open house last week end, to my good friend
Bruce Kelley (Liked to be called Kelley).
Kelley was a long time drag racer and hot rodder, knowing people
like C.J. “Pappy” Hart on a personal level.
Seeing as the Winged Express was one of my all time favorite cars
from my teenage years at Lions, and Kelley knew this, he says
“Heck, I’ve known “Mousie” for years. Do you want to go meet him again?”
To make a long story shorter, met Kelley at Al’s house, sat around and
B.S.’d for an hour, then Kelley says “I have to go, you guys have fun”.
I spent the rest of the afternoon talking to and, mostly listening to Al’s stories.
When it was time for me to go, I asked Al what I owed him for the 4 T shirts,
6 signed posters, 2 signed hats, and a lot of rare stickers and goodies.
I then found out that Kelley had already paid for it all. What can I say.
Below is a picture of Al on the left, Kelley on the top right, me on the bottom right.
Also got to say hello to Wild Willie.... sort of.
The urn goes where ever the car goes to race, honestly.
Sadly, it turned out to be the last time I ever saw Kelley, as he passed away a few
weeks after these photos were taken and I never really got a chance to thank
him for his kindness.
So here are some up close and personal Winged Express pictures that I have taken.
And a big thanks to Kelley and Al for making me feel like a wide eyed kid for
an afternoon (look at my picture)
