So we got this in the mail as a promotion from a company wanting us to buy ink pens and such from them. I think they need to invest in a spell check program.

This reminds me of when my oldest step-daughter was a senior in high school. She was the captain of the Color Guard and the guy who was the drum major shared the same birthday. We decided to bring a big sheet cake decorated by our local bakery. They wrote on it, "Happy Birthday Drum Major and Color Guard Captian". When we went to pick it up, we noticed the spelling mistake right away, but since the order was phoned in, the cake decorator blamed the person who took the order. I said, "so that means there are at least TWO illiterate people that work here. The one that took the order and you, the one who decorated the cake".

All you have to do is look at some of the employment

apps to realize we are not doing these kids much good in school...10 years ago they came out with "outcome based" education.....where spelling and grammer wasn't the primary concern...it was the "Content" and the "understanding" that was important....didn't work....now we got a ton of 25 to 30 year olds running around that can't spell and don't know the proper way to format a sentence or where a period or comma or question mark go...screwed up a ton of kids.....not sure what they are doing now...but it ain't working....sorry....isn't working....

LOL! Your rant is riddled with grammatical and punctuation errors. [ddd I know, it's an internet forum, but I still laughed at the irony.

I always felt dumb for not understanding when to use a colon or semi-colon. Now they think they are there for emoticons.
