Well Smalls, there are a couple of trivial things to iron out yet. It seems that opening three carbs is more stressful on the linkage than the engineers in the thirties intended. Ford made cute little spring latches to snap the linkage rods to the carb throttle lever and footfeed rod. They work running one carb but the springs in both ends of the link rod compress up every time I step on the gas. The gas pedal goes down about an inch and a half without doing anything.
And in one carb, I think I didn't adjust the throttle butterflies properly so sometimes the truck doesn't go right down to a nice idle. The butterfly valves seem to stick a wee bit open.
But, the truck sounds a lot better and pulls better too. That's a good thing.
I ran into a friend at the A&W show and he told me he had this weird old carb; it wasn't a 94 like mine, it was a 97, so he was going to throw it away. I put a stop to that right away. I told him it was a Stromberg and I was collecting them. He doesn't need to know that I'm just starting my collection.
