To rust or not to rust, that is the question.

I have a general question to you guys about rust.

* I am pondering glass beading my 47 and preserving what's left of the tin, but I love the rust in peace patina.

* *How do ya'all rate on this subject.* To preserve or not preserve.

*Is there any thoughts on clear coating the rust to slow it down?*

My brother in law used to say when he was living "rust never sleeps".* He was an old harley guy from the 60s era.

*What are your thoughts?

Although it is a very cool look, those vines will trap moisture and need to be removed. If you keep it dry and away from salt it will probably last as long as you.

I usually spray a light coat of red oxide primer on my stuff and let that get surface rusted. Gives it some protection but still allows patina too. I agree with Sam, that foliage needs to go!

Oiled her up

One gallon of raw linseed oil later..the old tin soaked it up for sure.[cl
