Old cars attract fools with modern stuff. They must think if they park close enough, some of our vehicle's cool will transfer to their pile.

I was driving my 49 through town on a 4 lane street. The guy in the beat up SUV was in the right lane, I was in the left (I had a turn coming up soon). The guy had his phone hanging out the window and was watching in his side mirror while he must have been taking a video of my truck going down the road. It didn't seem to bother him that he was drifting into my lane. He kept slowing down, probably hoping I would drive by. I may have if he wasn't 1/2 way into my lane...
As I made my left turn, he yelled out the window "Nice truck!" and gave me a thumbs up, still looking at me and holding his phone in the other hand, still recording. He still not paying any attention as to where his SUV was going. After my turn I saw him jerk his SUV back into his lane.
Hey Gene.... I get folks hanging out the window all the time with my Dakota. Good story.
When I have the Dakota out I always park way back (never up front) in the lot out of everyone's way, take up 2 spots and there's always someone who parks a heap next to me. Hope everyone is well on your end. I'm all done for this season with the yard, back to working out and feel great. I just have to get back in the garage... I hope I can get past this mental block I have and get going again. I really don't have a lot left....just have to get myself going.

Man, with everything you have been hit with this last while, sometimes we just need to get away from everything and take a break from it all.
The truck will wait its turn.

Don't know if I missed it, but did you get you motor back from the shop yet?

Yah...your right. No on the motor, I told him I was in no rush. If the motor gets here I'm really going to feel some pressure, so I don't want to push him as crazy as that might sound. I'll post a video of the Dyno when it happens.

My favorite stop in Prescott cuz there's a Subway, a Harbor Freight and a Home Depot all in the same strip mall. Then I spotted this. It had a 6BT with a P pump. Talk about a hat trick! And I just noticed, are those Alcoa's?

Took the little woman to the clinic for PT and this Ford truck was in the parking lot. Oh, as I was about to pull out of the driveway to go to the clinic a whole parade of hot rods, classics and restored cars went down our street. About 20 of them. I think it is a cruise to breakfast group. Pretty soon we all will have to pack them in for the winter. I didn't get pics.

man thats a nice 37 Bob..

but pack the cool cars away for winter ?? surely not or why ?

Normal people park their older cars during our winter months.
I built my 49 as a 4x4 truck, so I could drive it year around. I catch a lot of flack from people around here for doing that. I'm 68, I saved the truck from the crusher, and I built it myself. I intend to drive it until it dies, or I die. If it outlives me, it will be my son's problem, and he can do whatever he wants with what ever is left of it.

O5snowpro440 I forget the snow is a daily winter thing ,, generally we get a bit of frost for a couple of months,, if we want snow we head for he hills .. we tend to admire it from nearer to sea level
Mercury Mac, coming from a Canadian ? thats a fine compliment thanks ,, actually some pictures ive seen Canada has some amazing scenery ..... Mrs C has often made noises about visiting your country ..

Thank you Crate. I think we do have some nice scenery.
I turned my back on the 'boring' sunrise this morning and took this scenery picture.

Mac, Those autumn colors are stunning!!.

just cant beat nature i reckon...

another bucket list thing was to visit a dear Aunt in Scotland and return home via whats left of route 66 .... Canada is fast becoming a must see for me ....

I feel for you guys that can't ride all year long! We may only get below 32 F a few times a year, and although we can get a little snow once in a blue moon, it's never enough to even gather on the ground.

I love hearing this stuff...an old truck still being used as it was originally intended...a truck...

Why would people give you crap about driving it? I think it is pretty awesome 4x4. I'd drive it all year too. Jim

In the land of ice and snow, people tend to get real personal about seeing old cars or trucks running around in the salt and snow. For most, its something they would never do (if they had a nice old car, which most don't), so they think they have the right to complain about me doing it. Some get down right nasty about what I do with my stuff. Doesn't bother me much, I tell them I saved it from the crusher (which I did) and that I built it myself (which I did), then I tell them if I need to, I can redo it again. Those facts are over their heads, most got lost on me building it myself. Often they walk away totally confused and lost on the concept that someone can do something they can't.
