Today I smashed a finger. :eek:owwww! I have not had a black fingernail for along time, but I suddenly remembered why I don't do that on a regular basis. You know that couple of minutes when you are sucking air and blowing it out, just short of hyperventelating. Walking around the shop waiting for the only thing that will help you out.... time. How is it that a few minutes pass and it is all okay, except for that black fingernail and a little throbbing? But just before that you would have given away all your secrets, to anyone who asked, if only the pain would go away.

man that sucks about your finger
the last time i done that my Dad slamed my fingers between a cattle shoot and 7800 John Deer tractor bucket it didnt feel good but after the hyperventelating and four letter words

(funny that you can swear and hyperventelate at the same time but you can trust me )

but man you really feal alive after that

I usually do about a five minute pain dance around the shop after smashing a finger:D. Then I'm fine. Can't say the same for burns though. For the life of me, I can't figure out why I occasionally touch a piece of metal that I just finished heating.....like a bug to a zapper.

Sorry to hear about the finger Bonehead!! :( I know that pain all too well myself. I'm surprised I haven't lost at least one digit to a 300 to 700 lb. piece of stone over the past couple of years. There's nothing I hate worse than banging up my hands but it comes with the territory I guess. About a month ago I was cutting some heavy gauge wire with a pair of wire cutters without gloves on course. I loosened my grip for just a second to get a better hold and where the handles meet the jaws of the cutter I pinched a deep nickle sized blood blister into my finger. I thought for sure I removed part of my finger but I was lucky. The pain was unbelievable! After a loud round of some very strong language I threw the wire cutters so hard they stuck in the drywall of our laundry room! :D I still have the blood tattoo from that mishap.

Watch those hands and fingers guys! They are the most important tools you own besides your eyes.

You know that is one of the craziest memories of my grandpa. I was helping him build a pole building. He must have missed 4 or 5 nails hitting his thumb every time. he was a pretty angry old guy so the pain really didnt bother him. After the 5th time he decided he needed to release the pressure. he placed his thumb on one of the 4x4's and hit his thumb with the hammer one last time. Man I had never seen so much blood. Needless to say he kept right on working. I am fortunate to say that I have never smashed a finger that bad. I fall off of ladders, lol

Hitting my head hard is my worst - the kind that about puts you on one knee. Nothin' but time and the pain dance for the fix. The finger smash always surprises me, but I always seem to see the thing about to drop on my foot too late to do anything about it but grit my teeth.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why I occasionally touch a piece of metal that I just finished heating.....like a bug to a zapper.

Thought that was just me ---> Huh, I wonder if that's still hot....:eek:YEP, it is!

Toes....

Yeah, with me it's my right foot....
Crushed the 3 main toes a few years back, lost the nail on the
big toe forever (never grew back) and the joints on the next two
are fused from the damage. They don't bend except where they
meet the foot.
Consistantly manage to do minor damage to the right foot ...

Came home a week ago from a BBQ at my nephews rather late, opened
the extended cab door and slid out some cloth carry bags and the 2"
receiver hitch, which came as a surprise that landed on, you guessed it,
those 3 bare toes (sandles on as usual).
The interesting colors are now starting to fade.....
I never make a sound when this kind of stuff happens, don't know why.
It baffles my wife as it is one of the rare times I am silent.... '22
