My Son is one of the managers at the apartment complex where we live and yesterday morning he called to tell me a body had been found in one of the 4 lakes we have on the property ! Some joggers discovered it, I guess about 7 am. Nothing like this EVER happens here, it is a nice gated community and the worst thing that ever happens is someone will be out on their lanai too late at night making a little noise, so it is way out of character for this place.

From what we have learned so far, no foul play was involved. It looks like a young girl was partying with some friends (they found her shoes, purse, some alcohol bottle, and (we heard later) some pills.) Looks like she went into the water and drowned and her friends split on her.

Here is a link to the story. We see crime and things like this but this lake is right behind our place and it is scarey when so close to home.

** With friends like those ... !

Wow, that is scarey. I've often wondered what I would do if I ever found a dead body while out and about. Probably freak out and have this face > for a week.

I know, I would not know what to do if I ever came upon a scene like that !

The police have released her name and age, she evidently was not a kid, but was 48 years old and not a resident here. Probably a sad story behind this one. :(

I knew where this story was going when it began with "apartment complex".

The metro area here is only about 300,000, but we get all the rejects from Chicago filtering over. Point being, we get more than our share of 'weird' stuff. Glad I live in the country again.....

I represent that remark. Ours isn't your typical "apartment complex", it isn't all that big and most of the units are condos, so you get a better class of people. It is gated and my Son manages it, he watches it like a hawk, and potential residents are screened carefully.

You can walk in here at any hour, we never worry about our cars or someone breaking into the apartment, and it is really safe and quiet here. That is why this event was so far out of character.

While I understand your comment about apartment complexes, they are not all created equal. My other Son manages and lives in one where the condos start at a million bucks and go up from there. They don't tend to get many problems either. :D

Hey, that was just my instant reaction until I read further that you live there and your boy manages it. Well, assuming you aren't a spaghetti stained wife beater shirt kinda guy. :p
