2 hours at the DMV and $8 later new plates and tags. I did have to make a report to the police to be able to get new plates. Lady at the DMV said it is getting to be more common. People are doing this so it looks like the plate is up to date, but if they do get pulled over they receive a good sized fine.

I hate a thief. Would a metal tag frame with 4 allen head bolts help prevent that from happening since they cant just snip it?

That is on my to do list for the week. I'm almost sure it didn't happen around my place, I think it was a parking lot mishap.

A GOOD SIZED FINE ??????????? How about jail time for theft and fraudulent display of a license tag ?????? See, that is why thieves aren't afraid to do that stuff, the penalties are not all that stiff.

I say put the low life in jail, take away his car, and his drivers license for a year, and make him attend "honesty" classes. They do all of that to someone who has a few too many drinks, so why not someone who steals something and makes their victim go though all those hoops ?

I was thinking the same thing. He obviously can't afford insurance and tags. What makes them think he will pay the fine? What a bunch of crap.

I suppose the issue of the fine doesn't matter if the reason for not getting pulled over involves extradition, outstanding warrants, or an end to your "vacation" in America followed by a cursory return to your own nation of origin.
I don't know what all the hubub is about undocumented workers... Your not supposed to work on your vacation are you?
Remember...when you run out of money on your vacation that means it's time for you to return home XD

That my friend is the new way of stealing a plate...

Went to get gas a hour ago and my license plate caught my eye. Well it was there yesterday afternoon.

They can use the tab and drive all year with a plate that looks ok....they don't take the whole plate as it is put into LEIN and easier to find if run...I've seen them fit it so well to theirs that unless you get up to it, it looks legit...some of them even remove the stick on tags and glue them to another plate.....if they took the time and effort to use their talents in non criminal ways, they wouldn't have to steel tabs.... JMHO of course.....

You said a mouth full right then! I've often wondered why some people with great talents only use them to do bad things. I've known several people that would fit that description.....
