What is an old MG worth?

So I started doing a little side work yesterday for a guy. Sitting out in his yard are several 70's ford trucks, couple lincolns, and an MG.

Heard he was going to get some one to haul it all away (scrap). I was debating on seeing if I could get him to let me pull it up on the trailer and run away with it..... not sure why, just something else to sit and take up space. But anyway. I didn't get a real good look at it. Floors are junk for sure, the rest might be saveable. Need to get out a weed whip to get closer to it and check it out.

Thought that if I can get it up and going one day it might be nice for her to drive.....

I'd rather have the one of the fords as a future donor vehicle..but I've never been an MG fan

You could make a poor man's Cobra with it. A 4.3 V6 would surely make an MG move pretty quick but a small block will fit. A high school buddy had an MG with a 318 Dodge that was scary.

Fun cars but a PIA to work on or get parts for. Also, Lucas wiring and positive ground. Stick with American tin, you'll be glad you did!

All I was planning on keeping was the tin. Figured the rest would probably end up in the scrap yard......

poor man cobra sounds like mucho grande fun!!! Maybe fit it up with a 350 and a 4 or 5 speed. Sounds like more fun than my high school prom date!!

I've always had thoughts about building a poor mans cobra out of a MG. I drove a stock one once, my big feet couldn't work the pedals, was hitting brake and clutch at the same time with one foot, lol.

A friend of mine had a TR7 with a 351W -C6 in it. He said it was instant tire smoke as soon as you punched it! Never could get it to hook, he even went to a Maverick 8" rear. The 4.67 gears might have had something to do with it.....

I was thinking harvesting an independent rear 8.8 from an old lincoln or something would be nice.....

I too would need to alter the interior. I could probably hit all three pedals at the same time with out trying....
