im thinking on on Zing my frame, ive read the threads but they all differ in some ways. Im just worried about the frame cracking or breaking at the welds. Is there any books or threads that have a step by step on how to Z a frame? (i plan to do it on y 30 A sedan)
any help is appreciated,

Mike bishops book on how to build a traditional hot rod, They show z'ing an A frame. Plus lots of other good info.

Is this a stock A frame that you are modifying, or a scratch built frame? If scratch built, there is no magic to it. You want to obviously miter your cuts the same on both parts, grind a bevel on all edges so your weld will penetrate deep, use a properly sized welder (read that 220 volt in my opinion), and then weld a gusset over the top of the joint after you grind it smooth. The gusset can be as simple as a flat piece of steel laid like a patch over the joint and then welded all around the circumferance.

See if this picture gives you any idea of what I am talking about. See the two little octagon shaped pieces we welded over the joints?
