The Buick straight 8 only had 5 mains, and I believe this 6 did also. Modern I6 engines like the indestructo Jeep 4.0 and the 225 Mopar, they have 7 mains.
What would you do?

Remember a flattie V8 only has 3
I just read in 1935/1936 Pontiac increased the main bearings to ..........4. Good news is this engine like the straight 8 Pontiac had full pressure oiling. To give you an idea, Chevy's of the same era did not.
