That's why I don't even like to call mine a rat rod. It's just a hot rod that needs paint. It just isn't my cup of tea to hang anything goofy or useless on my rod.

i call mine a hotrod
and i prefer it kinda plain looking
because the overall look of most of our cars are so cotton pickin cool they dont need trash or doo-dads

Todd, I think you've just put a title on another hotrod genre, the craprod.
ZZ has named the "Is it stock or tweaked" genre, which I participate in, sometimes, and willingly.
But, Craprods are not for me. If you weld a coyote trap on the door of a Model A, or combine rub bars on the hood of your '52 effie, you're not going to get my vote.

I agree with you both, I call mine a Hot Rod too. Rat Rod has a negative connotation to me, and tends to mean "junk" to some people. Just because it's not painted doesn't mean it's not well built.

Not to steal Todd's thunder but I've heard the term craprod before, used the same way to describe overdone "rat rods" or stuff that is supposed to be a "rat rod" but is so poorly built it shouldn't be on the road.

I think I can honestly say that the builds we have goin on here are built to be one of a kind , but also safe. But, when I see someone who has gone so far that they write stuff on their white walls, and radiator grill , it is way too much for this hombre.
