Up in arms

Today I almost finished my trailing arms, Just a little adjustment and some welding and their done. I decided to go with running two radius,s that meet at a fixed point ( axel ) WOW what a pain in the a### that was. I made the arms look as if they grew out of the frame. Not liking the arm end thought, thinking of some kind of change.

Damn, maybe I shoulda read the whole thing before posting:eek:. Them guys at the Stovebolt would probably have an aneurizm! Awsome build!! Lots of original thinkin'! Don't chop that grille!!!! It looks great with it's original shape, makes it look mean!

Bags

Well it seems my cataliever system works, I got 5 inches of travel witch is plenty for what I need. I have to get some DOM pipe to complete my strut rods. I have some pipe in there now for mock up. I am pleased with out come, I really wasnt sure if it would work. This little thing took me almost 4 weeks from idea to where it is now, what a pain in the A**.

Your engineering skills are top notch BK. Did you use a CAD program to help get the geometry correct? We use a similar cam/cylinder set up to fold the head & tail section of top folding conveyors for road travel (thought I'd throw that in there to give you some piece of mind that the concept does work!).

Thank you for the kind words. I did not use a CAD machine. I used raduis measurements times pie and then divided by 4 to give a quater movment. The cam has 2 differant ratios one for the bag and one for the axel. My ratio ended up pretty close to 1 to 1.38 movement.

Rolling

I finished the front bag system today. It works and rolls. I did pick up a 1963 389 w/trans complete running witha crap load of extra prts for 200.00. I am thinking of running that instead of the 62 327 with power glide I already have.

MOTOR

Well I have got the mounts finally finished, I decided to bolt staight to the motor instead of orginal mounting points. Did a little work on the rear axel also, cut off all the old brackets, getting it ready to set up this weekend. Oh one more thing, that crap load of parts I got when I bought that 389 turns out there were a pair of very very rare 64 GTO heads, one year only, just sold them to a guy in NY for 800.00. WOW!:D
