This one is from the HAMB drags 2010.
Here are a couple pictures cars my dad drove for owner Don Grant. I had a lot more of cars he owned/drove and others that he just drove in a couple of old photo albums but gave them to him a few years ago.
from 1968 or 69, my dad is on the left and...
Here is my Mopar. Don't know how muscular it is though, 48 Plymouth Club Coupe.
59 model 230, bored .030, Edgy Aluminum Head, Offy Intake, Carter / Webber Carbs, Fenton Cast Iron Headers, S10 HEI Distributor.
I got my headers and intake from Langdon's Stovebolts http://stoveboltengineco.com/. The headers are repops, the intake is an offenhauser.
I got the head from Edgy Speed Shop http://edgyspeedshop.com/ Earl is now doing dual intakes as well which he did not have when I bought mine. He also...
You need to check in over at the P15-D24 site http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/index.php?referrerid=1152 likely find replacement trim over there.
Looks like you have a very good start the rockers and the area behind the door look solid. Love a good P15.
One suggestion was to go with a slant 6, think twice before jumping into that swap. The slant 6 is a full 7 inches longer than the flathead and you will need a big shoe horn to get it in...
Not only is it a coupe it is a Business Coupe with the much better lines than the Club Coupe. Looks pretty solid too.
I would be all over that thing in a heart beat, but then I may be a bit biased.
Welcome,
Good to see some more old Mopars coming back to life. You might want to check in over at the P15-D24 site http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/index.php?referrerid=1152 as well there is a ton of info there on the old Mopars.
Here is my 48 Coupe and the 57 model 230 I built for it.
Great start.
If you are not already signed up over at the P15-D24 site http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/index.php?referrerid=1152 I would suggest you do. There is a ton of info over there on these old Mopars.
One other suggestion is to look for an R10 Overdrive from a mid to late...
The easiest way is to look at the grill. On the 42 all the horizontal "bars" are the same thickness and the parking lights are above the grill. On the 46 thru fisrt series 49, the horizontal "bars" alternate thick / thin and the parking lights are located directly below the headlights.
Wayfarer who posted above makes adapters for Mopar 5 speeds or Automatics to the flathead here is his site. www.qualityengineeredcomponents.com
There is also Paul Curtis who makes the T5 adapter https://home.comcast.net/~pjplymouth/t5.html
Egge's is a good source for rebuild parts. Just to be sure, the one I mentioned Edgy Speed Shop makes the cast aluminum head I am running on my flathead as well as dual carb intakes and can regrind your cam from mild to wild. http://www.edgyspeedshop.com/index2.html
Good luck with your build...
I would suggest you keep your stock suspension as the base and work from there. I am currently on my second 48 Plymouth Coupe, the first I had a Nova subframe professionally installed by a very accomplished rod builder, the current one has a rebuilt stock suspension with rustyhope's disc kit...
