It certainly is nice finding one that is in this good shape. Cab mounts and floor boards are the worst of it.

I gave the wife a short and precise (in my opinion) lesson in painting this morning before the wind got up. Then I just sat down and watched her paint the frame. I did flip the frame and thin and mix her paint for her. I'm learning to like having a good assistant.
She doesn't know it yet but she's going to do her own paint job since she wouldn't leave it "natural".

I love seeing the girls get in on the work :cool::cool:

It is a different as well as interesting process working with her on this build.
She has some opinions on how to do things that just don't work so we have some time consuming discussions instead of me just getting it done and moving on.

So far we are still communicating and she shows up every time I head out to the shop.

I MIGHT NEED SOME ALONE TIME THIS WEEK!!:cool::eek:

Small steps.....

I mixed up her paint for the wheels and while she was painting them I got the engine finished up and stuck it in the frame with the old transmission. I had to replace the oil pan that was in the 3/4 ton Dodge with one that would clear the Dakota front end. Also had to change the pick up tube so I put a new oil pump on it while I was in there.

Checked the bearings and replaced the front and rear crankshaft seals. Should out last both my wife and I.

Going to get the tires mounted tomorrow and set the cab and bed on the frame so we can get the look she wants and figure out the mounts.

Barter payoff....

I delivered my end of our agreement with Sand Blaster Guy.
He sent me these pics yesterday.
I think I got the better end of our deal for once. He originally quoted $750 for the sand blasting.

My costs:
$100 for material 4'X10'X14ga cold roll cut to 3'x10'
About 2 hrs to design it, get in the computer and cut it.
He did a quick rust job and clear coated it.

WE BOTH ENDED UP HAPPY!
